Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru Brut Rosé France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru

Both of these bottles showed much better than my previous experience at the start of the month. Creamy but elegant and light, very fresh strawberry fruit. More like the Hebrart I know and a crowd favourite.

Should have learnt from my previous experiences when I guessed Sauv Blanc for an Aligoté. Straw, ripe citrus fruit but with a distracting greenness. Bit flat and uninspiring.
Red
2015 Bonnet-Cotton Côte de Brouilly 100% Cotton France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côte de Brouilly

From magnum. Bought this from a firesale and what a bargain it was. Made in a more serious, Burgundian style despite the hipster label. Bit Gevrey-ish with dark berry fruit but with a sweeter core. A pleasant discovery.
Red
2019 Boris Champy Beaune 1er Cru Aux Coucherias France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru

Heard good things about this producer but was disappointed by this bottle. Had too much warmth with plummy, jammy dark fruit. Weird mixture of vanilla and chocolate notes.
Red
2021 Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay

From a lighter vintage with its pale red colour. Fresh, zippy and elegant despite the natty Grenache-like characteristics. Good but thought his single vineyards are a clear step-up in terms of depth.
Red
2014 Clos du Jaugueyron Haut-Médoc France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

Agree with previous notes that this had cool, restrained dark red fruit, finishing with a little plum. Always a traditionalist Bordeaux stalwart that I love; eschewing obnoxious extraction and oak brings out a nuance rarely seen in modern Bordeaux.
White - Sweet/Dessert
1988 Château Filhot France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

Similar experience to the last note. Fresh, golden colour but palate was a little tired. Not much sherry notes but fading fruit with a distracting rust/jalapeno note.
