Introduction
Very nice event located in the castle sourmounting Sondrio. A lot of producers with their Nebbioli. More than 200 bottles!!. Tasting notes refer strictly to the tasted bottle. Looking back I was bit too tight in my ratings...But please keep in mind that most of the wines were just too young. Anyway the scaling is correct...just needs a 2/3 points shift upward..
Flight 1 (28 notes)

Better than the Sanadaive at nose: More intense, complex and finer. One of the best for smell. Tannic, very similar to the other Barbarescos. Neive zone. Young, vintage 2001 being the best at the moment.

2006 Novy Family Wines Nebbiolo Stolpman Vineyard

Red
2003 L. A. Cetto Nebbiolo Reserva Privada
Mexico, Baja California, Valle de Guadalupe
Same smell characters and taste well centered…a bit too short. Tannic. An estate from a Piemontese family already producing about 6.000.000 bottles:.
Red
2007 Steenberg Nebbiolo
South Africa, Coastal Region, Cape Peninsula, Constantia
Nice intense ruby red. Intense, complex and fine: Spicy (pepper). Particukar at taste: spicy and maybe meat (?). Maturing inside a toasted American barrel covered almost every other note. It just doesn’t seem to be Nebbiolo.
Closing
There are some common characteristic to ALL the wines: Wild rose, carruba and red fruit at nose. At taste the most common defect is the harsh tannin…but most of them were “just realesed” vintages and will better with time. For the same reason, I liked more the “ready” Gattinara than the “young Barolos.
