Not up to the CT rating so maybe past it’s time. It needed a lot of time to be drinkable but then settled out as just OK

I agree with the other comments about the high acid and unpleasant notes right upon opening. However, I think this gets a lot better with some serious air. Give it three hours in a decanter. The acidity mellows out and the fruit shines through. (I think this would be better after several years in the cellar too to mellow that acidity.) Would also suggest drinking it with some fatty red meat.

Deep, opaque red-purple, glinted around the edges, with some fine sediment; on the nose, Triscuits (especially right out of bottle), olives, some red fruit; high acid with medium, fine tannins; quite green, some red fruits, perhaps a touch of salinity; medium-short finish of tart cranberry.

Drink 2016-2019. 86-88 points.

5/12/16, 5:52 PM - 2016 seems to have stripped those negatives. A little more time might help but then again this may be it. You were very right that it needed more time.
