The equal of any Premier Cru Burgundy and from a winery not known for it's Pinot Noirs!

Attractive bright garnet color in glass. Lovely developing bouquet. Lots of varietal character and complexity on palate. Moderate acidity and tannins. Perhaps not quite at peak. Wait a few years on this one. A very pretty wine.
(13.5 % alcohol).

Inky black color in glass. Bouquet of black chocolate. Full bodied on palate with ripe tannic fruit. Lots of depth and extract, thick and chocolatey. Not yet at peak and needs maybe 4-5 years at least! Fine particles of sediment coat inside of bottle. (See my previous notes from 2017).

Super deep black/purple color. (14.6 % alcohol). Intense nose of deep ripe fruit. Deep fruit on palate with warm tannins and moderate acidity. Overtones of rich chocolate. Should hold on nicely for a few years.

Low neck fill. Cork crumbled slightly upon extraction but was not soaked through. Lovely dark garnet color on glass with obvious bricking. Stylish Cabernet Sauvignon bouquet with with hints of oxidation. Good fruit on palate with moderate acidity but the fruit is slowly fading. Particles of fine sediment coat inside of bottle. Drink now to avoiding disappointment .

Light amber color in glass. Very supple on palate with low acidity. Good body.Reminds me of liquid honeysuckle. Needs to be thoroughly chilled before consumption otherwise it is a little flabby on palate due to low acidity. This is declassified d'Yquem.

Very Gamay/Beaujolais like. Fruity. Aerate for a bit and put in fridge for a while and it becomes even better. J. Lohr used to make one of these for about $8.99 , the first I had ever seen. Valdiguie Nouveau anyone?

Robust and broad shouldered on palate. Just starting to oxidize. Splotches of fine sediment coat inside of bottle. Just past prime but still very nice.

Low neck fill. Black-purple in glass. Lovely stylish bouquet just what you would expect from a nice claret. Just barely fading rims visible in glass. Medium body on palate with low acidity and moderate tannins. Slightly beyond peak. A little sediment coats inside of bottle.

High neck fill. As soon as I poured it in the glass I could see some serious bricking going on. Soft stylish bouquet with surprisingly few hints of oxidation. Good fruit on palate with soft tannins and low acidity. Fading oh so gracefully. Reminds me of a nice Margaux from a good year. Thick sediment coats inside of bottle. I have recently started drinking my 97 cabs and it is apparent that with a few exceptions their reign is over!

Lovely green gold color in glass. Soft nose of peach and pair. Rather firm on palate with low acidity though I expected more. With aeration comes a supple mouth feel. Very pleasant but not too complex.

Lovely light gold/orange color in glass. Muted nose. 12.0 % alcohol. Interesting blend of grape varieties. Good body and acidity on palate. Needs 6 months or maybe a year to really open up. (FYI in 1983 Ridge produced a white zinfandel!).

Cork broke in half during extraction. Lovely deep garnet color with hints of browning. Lovely bouquet of ripe black cherry and spice. Lots of spicy ripe fruit on palate with oxidation evident. Just starting to fade but really nice and complex so drink up!

I have to disagree with previous reviewers. Almost black and opaque in glass. Slightly closed nose. Full bodied with good extract and soft tannins. Not a fruit bomb or complex but very well made. (14.9% alcohol). Lots of "heft" and weight on palate. What the Brits would describe as "four square". Surprisingly ready to drink now but should hold a few years.

Lovely deep garnet "robe" in glass. Nice bouquet. Good fruit on palate with dusty tannins - Rutherford Dust! Very stylish and pretty much as expected. Not a fruit bomb but rather claret like. A very good middle of the road BV cabernet. 14.2 % alcohol.

95% Zinfandel, 5% Petite Sirah, 15.3% alcohol. Medium dark garnet color in glass. Lovely spicy bouquet. Spicy fruit on palate with good body. Alcohol does not intrude. Not Beaujolais like but a little precocious for a Ridge Zin. Went great with homemade beef jerky! Absolutely at peak so drink up!

Purchased at the winery back in the day. Low neck fill and top of cork moldy. 13% alcohol. Reddish garnet color in glass with fading rims. Earthy mushroom bouquet. Drying fruit and soft tannins on palate. Medium light body. Surprisingly drinkable and making old bones. Some sediment. I was sure it would be DOA! Who knew?
