Love Cain wines, but this one was just past its optimal drinking window.

In Montreal: loved finding a great vintage of a second wine from one of my favorite producers that I don't believe I can get in the US (no US listings on wine-searcher any way). Any way, really open and fresh after short decant. Had a glass each day in the Sonder without food - good quaffer at decent price. Picked up at SAQ (of course!). Liked it enough to go back and grab some more to bring back to US.

This was delicious! From my birth year. Cork was in perfect condition. Used some to make a port reduction for dinner. Just amazing and delicious. Wish I had another bottle. Any one have an extra they are willing to part with?!?

There are wines that you savor every second, one sip is almost eternity and you drink the whole glass for at least half an hour, because you do not want to miss anything from the richness of flavors, the complexity of the structure, and unexpected nuances. These wines are like a drug because you are afraid that when you finish, you will want more. That's why you extend the moment when you see the bottom of bottle endlessly.
On the other hand, there are wines that are simple, "polite and arranged" with a schematic smell and taste, but so good that you cannot put the glass away from your mouth. You drink them like thirsty of water marathoner after 40 km of running.
And it is precisely this wine that belongs to the latter category. A lovely, really lovely and strong scent of black currants. Plus black and red cherry, tabacco ( nice!).
Taste - juicy, fresh, bright! Sweet notes of red cherry mixed with red currant and spice. Grippy tannins and ripe acidity. All Lego pieces fit perfectly. Sip after sip...

9/8/23, 7:22 AM - I've had recent interest in Schiopetto and today my local shop emailed about this wine. After reading your notes, i just had to buy 3. Now i can't wait to open this up and enjoy over the next 10 years ish... Thanks!

Great Rioja! Pretty near perfection, but as most Riojas, it would have been fine staying in the cellar.
The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It tastes like forest floor, plum and black currant (cassis).

Wow, this was recommended and it did not disappoint. Two non-chard drinkers thought it was delicious! I'm now a big fan of this Chard, will look for more.

Very different from the '17. This wine is medium bodied, dark violet, ripe, and sweet tannin. Straightforward, primary, juicy style. The '17 had depth, elegance, was silky and smooth and had unmistakable complexity to its flavors. I would probably not be a future buyer of the '18 because it doesn't distinguish itself from the pack.

Vivid dark ruby with crimson at the edges. Crabapples, pomegranate, and dark ripe raspberries on the nose with high alcohol. Rich boysenberry notes dominate along with a touch of chocolate-covered raspberries. An almost cloying red fruit sweetness defines the finish. Ready to drink, but no reason to rush as it has another six-ten years to evolve ahead of it at a minimum.

You can tell this is good juice, but it's a medium Cab, tannins were light, easy drinking. Have 3 additional bottles so going to love to see where this goes in a few years.
