Despite this medium gold-colored Champagne's somewhat restrained bead, it has a beautiful nose and lively palate of lemon curd, flint, marzipan and toasted bread. Medium-bodied, crisp and delicious throughout the middle, it closes with impressive length. Based upon this bottle, I would favor consumption within the next 2-3 years, as the "fizz" will not last much longer. Drink now-2017.

Elegant, relative reserved nose. Round, fruity, harmonious taste. Nice wine. Would I drink it again? Yes. Would I pay 33 € for another 0,375l bottle? Probably not. There's so much else out on the market.

12/27/12, 1:27 PM - @vijayk416: The note is for the CdP, and the price seems about right. However I would hold on judging this one. In my experience Beaucastel is very hard to read early on, while they become amazing with age (min. 10 years). Even worse is that most CdP 2007s are IMO closed for the time being.

The quality oozes out of this wine straight from the off. Very typical nose of dry herbs, black fruit and meat. In the mouth this is already starting to show some development - very long finish with bacon and liquorice coming through. Very impressive finish - should be quite something in another 10 years. Excellent.

12/27/12, 1:22 PM - I still have my hopes for this one. I also found it great upon release, but personally I have found it extremely tannic and hard these last two years. Even to the point where I would doubt whether it will end up balancing it self. I find it too rough on the finish, somehow reminding me of some '95s form Neuf.

Today this wine was amazing. Splash decanted and served with steak. The nose was a bouquet of finely ground white pepper with hints of berries. There was no heat and the balance was near-perfect. A joy to drink!

Corked.

4/20/10, 11:35 PM - Yes, what a shame. I had the 1996 some time ago, and it was stunning - so naturally my expectations for this was also quite high. Corked bottles are always so unfortunate.

German wine tasting (Martins office): Clear light yellow color. Intense nose with aromas of wine gums, champagne extract and white pears. Loads of white pears juice on the palate as well, but with more nuances of mushrooms, minerals and white flowers on the midpalate and finish. Very good length and refreshing acidity in perfect balance with the sweetness.
