2015 Horsepower Vineyards Syrah The Tribe Vineyard Walla Walla Valley

The funk on this wine is unique and hard to overcome. I didn't like it after P&P through a venturi into a decanter and then pouring into a glass. In fact, I poured it back into the decanter. I came back to it a couple of hours later and it had softened, but the funk was still in the background. I really hope every Horsepower wine doesn't smell/taste like that.

1/30/23, 11:10 AM - It was my first time tasting a Christophe wine and now I am concerned that I have a couple cases of Horsepower wines aging and I just got added to the Cayuse member list and have some of their wines on order too. I will keep tasting but that was really a shock to me. Maybe this style isn't my style.

Consumed THREE bottles back to back. All notes the same.

At Vancouver Club with Rob and Liam.
Dark fruit, stewed plums. Hibiscus. Oak and vanilla.
Full bodied. Dry. Well balanced. Long finish.
This is a bloody delicious wine. Case worthy!

1/24/21, 4:50 PM - Surprised the Vancouver Club would have a wine like Quilceda let alone 3 bottles! I will open one tonight too and compare my notes to yours. :)

1/25/21, 9:17 AM - I agree with most of your comments. I too tasted the Oak, Vanilla and lengthy finish. Initially I was getting a surprising amount of tannin...almost to a point where it was biting. Later in the evening it settled down and I began to notice bits of smokiness in each sip as well.
