2007 Kapcsándy Family Winery Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard Yountville Red Bordeaux Blend

Kapcsándy Family Winery found its place in the sun when it launched, with Helen Turley at the helm. She's since moved on, but Kapcsándy continues to garner 100 point scores from Robert Parker. Certainly, the 2007 State Lane Napa Valley Estate Cuvée is both multifaceted and voluptuous with layers of cola, black cherries, blackberries, butterscotch, espresso grounds, smoke, and tar. It's still tightly wound, with firm tannins drenched in black fruit, bittersweet chocolate, peppercorns and sun dried tomato.

This is an elite wine in every sense.
Beautiful and unusual color: dark with magenta highlights (almost phosphorescent as it reflects the light).
Plums, mint, leather, root beer and middle eastern spices on the nose. The nose evolved over several hours with each of these components moving from primary to tertiary.
Initial palate of cassis liqueur and foresty pine cone with unsweetened graham cracker on the mid-palate. Framed by orange/lemon zest and pomegranate seeds. Very structured and balanced wine with layers of different flavors. Still youthful and tannic. This has many more years to age.

2006 Pauillac de Latour Red Bordeaux Blend
I know this is just a "third wine", but I was expecting more, especially with all the drooling reviews below here. This had no nose, nothing interesting at all, might as well have been drinking two buck chuck.
