In 2010 PDB choosed to mix all their vineyards in the Barbaresco base and did not made any single vineyards or riserva. This was done when the wheater-year 2010 was not near as good in barbaresco as in much of the rest of the wine-Europe. This wine gets first 36 months in botte, then 6 months in bottle before being released in the market. PdB produce nearly 500,000 bottles in total in the year of the different barbaresco cuvees.
The scent spreads in the room serving. Deep dark but fresh berries. Scent of supermarket-raspberry jam and meat of cherries. Leather and dried salted meat.
In the mouth first a bit dusty. The flavor comes after a few seconds. Then with distinct notes of liquorice. Dark mature "summer berries". Pretty much and angular tannins. Long taste but finishes slightly bitter. As a delicious grape, but then you chew on a stone on the way out. I do think this is well worth the pennies in a few years .. and bitterness decreases slightly after hours of air.
Now: 50 + 5 + 12 + 13 + 8 = 88p.
