7 year old Grande Cuvee. Walnut, biscuits, coconuts. Plenty oxidative notes. Drinking well but also a bit boring to be honest. I need my champagne young and fresh and this is showing too old for me.

5/22/16, 11:26 PM - Hi, it was stored in my cellar under good conditions. I think it is just a personal preference whether you like champagne young and more fresh or prefer it with some age on.

2009 Domaine Dublère Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds Pinot Noir

i think i'm missing something here. the acid seemed to be overwhelming. the fruit was more harsh than smooth; and for me this wine was disjointed and left me with a sour look on my face. granted, this wine opened up a bit and improved over time (most young wines do); but where was the exuberant expression of fruit that i normally associate with 2009 red burgs? where was the velvety mouth feel that i expect from volnay? ok so perhaps a young taillepieds can be a bit rough when young, but this rough? can only hope it gets better...

1/7/16, 10:34 PM - Sounds like it's closed down. Most 09s are. Wait 2-3 years for the next bottle. The 08 of this is drinking very well right now.

A big bruising meursault. Citrus, oak, a bit angular. not really in balance right now. Saved a third for the next day which showed much better.

11/6/15, 4:10 AM - Hi Peter.... Oh no, somebody is actually reading what I'm writing :-) I'm sure you're right about the 2012s. I've decided not touch my remaining Lafon 2012 bottles for a while. Though I think I'm more of a Roulot Meursault type :-)

Not much going on here. Almost nothing on the nose and a bit hard and acidic on the palate.

3/1/15, 8:02 AM - You are probably right. Most 2011 reds seem quite open now, but not this one I guess.

1996 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame Champagne Blend
Weak. Surprising young with lot of acidity and structure but on the other hand also oxidative notes of hazelnuts. It's not really exciting or in balance. A bit of vanilla biscuit also. Given the oxidative notes, I can't really see this improving into something memorable.

5/11/14, 10:33 AM - No the bottle wasn't flawed in anyway and it has been kept in good condition since release. But there is always bottle variation of course.
