so far so good but lacks complexity, wine needs air. Good for fish and seafood thanks to the fresh acidity.

2/4/15, 4:13 PM - I was underwhelmed by this as well. Prefer the 98 at this point in time.

2/5/15, 1:01 PM - I had a 91 at a tasting that stood out from the rest of the whites that night but don't have any specifics to compare to the 98 and 99. Those are the only 3 vintages and based on them and the Gravonias I've had, I definitely like the house style. 99 just happens to be my least favorite at this time.

this bottle is banging right now. Tons of tropical fruit, creme and violet on the nose. The palate is just dense rich fruit that's incredibly textured and full of flavor.

10/27/14, 9:47 AM - Agreed. Had it about a month ago and much, much improved over last year. Settling down into something really nice. Hard to keep my hands off now.

White - Off-dry
2010 François Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Les Tuffeaux Chenin Blanc
Drank really well. Had as a warm up to dinner as we sat outside in Laguna Beach and enjoyed the early evening on the cliff. Nectarine was pretty dominant here, along with some peach and pineapple. As with the recent 2010 Habert, light on the mineral here yet enough acid to keep it all tasting good. Can't say enough times how much I like Chidaine, and the 2010s are showing very nicely now.

8/16/13, 9:50 AM - Love this stuff as well. Really enjoyed this bottle and ordered more. Actually ventured out and really started sampling Chidaine following many of your posts on WB and on CT. Thanks for the notes and inspiration! Great addition(s) to my cellar.

8/17/13, 7:22 AM - I found the 2010 Les Truffeaux and NV Brut at a local shop with little effort. I've been enjoying both and am on the lookout for other 2010s, it sounds like they're drinking really well across the board. The experience has been good enough that I'll probably pick up a bottle of any Chidaine I come across to give it a try and familiarize myself. I'm definitely interested.

Does Chidaine have a track record of drinking well young or is it the result of this particular vintage?

flawed
Flawed: Ruby color. The nose has dull, stewed fruit aromas; prunes, blackberry and a hint of strawberry. Palate is medium bodied with a similar profile to the nose, not much acid bite but a decent amount of tannin. Kind of reminds me of a balsamic. There is also a slight yeasty smell. No change on day-2.

3/5/13, 7:10 AM - Accidentally clicked that I thought this review was helpful instead of comment...

But, had a similar issue with one of my 2007 Wellington England Crests. Hope my last one is OK, had some at a friend's house not too long ago and remember really enjoying it.

Love it. It's gotten better with time and has way more stuffing than I remembered. Wish I had more. This is coming into its own and should get better for another 2-3 years.

2/22/13, 8:46 AM - I've been sitting on two - sounds like it's time to pop one open for a taste. Thanks for the note!

Drank this with the Rutherford from Raymond. This one was good but weaker than I typically like in a cab. I would recommend the Rutherford from Raymond.
