Nothing special here. Average pinot. Drink or hold.

11/16/23, 8:38 PM - You rated this wine 95 points but state it’s nothing special and an average Pinot. A bit confusing — 95 points is far from average in my experience.

PnP'd. Cranberry red color. Sweet black and red fruits, vanilla on the nose and to the others add some blueberry notes on the palate. A little treacly on the open, but settled down by the second glass. Much better with food. Round, flavorful finish. Disappointingly one dimensional for the price point.

Coravin'd a healthy pour. Red fruit and cherry cough syrup on both the nose and to a lesser extent on the palate. Dry hint on the finish. Maybe this'll open up a bit more with air but no time tonight. Got as a room drop and as of now, will drink but wouldn't purchase at the community avg of $46

1/16/23, 2:41 PM - How about at $34.89? Recent price for this vintage at Costco.

Unfortunately I just waited to long on this. Kind of got lost in the cellar I guess. Fruit was nearly all gone and all that was left was funk and acid. Not enjoyable at all - but that’s on me. I d had other ‘07 Chehalem (in the past) and they’ve been wonderful.

7/13/22, 1:36 PM - Maybe just bad luck. We opened 1 of 2 lost in our cellar last week and surprisingly found it still full of fruit and delicious.

another broken cork, my wines are stored in a cellar with all the right conditions

I like Ramey but will not buy anymore until they fix this problem

12/21/20, 1:41 PM - I’ve been using CorkPops on all my older wines. No broken corks and easy extractions.

First of 3 ($29.99@) from a recent online wine clearinghouse purchase. Just the second US wine I've bought from them, as their Italian, French, Iberian and Australian selections are usually more interesting to me. I've bought RG chards before when I've visited their beautiful facility, although as much to defray tasting fees as because of love of their wines. Opened with a 1 oz pour, then let sit for an hour or so, but TNs were pretty constant. On the nose and palate, semi-sweet orange, Meyer lemon, crushed rock, steely minerality, white flowers and lesser notes of oak, sweet apples and pears. Light silverish gold, medium+ bodied, light to medium legs. Medium+ acidity, the slightest touch of heat. Medium++ bodied, medium to powerful intensity, very good persistence. Fantastic complement to seared scallops with porcini mushrooms on night 1 and grilled chicken on night 2. Elegant, surprisingly powerful yet subtle, this wine far surpassed my expectations and was crazy good qpr. This is easily one of the best half dozen chards I've reviewed on CT and could have risen even further with just a bit more assertive fruit. Vineyard managed by the acclaimed Ulysses Valdez. Tasting more like early than late drinking window with several years of excellent drinking left and possible improvement. Will buy more if I see again at this price. JD's 96 is quantitatively high but qualitatively correct. Highly recommended. 93-94

Did not enjoy.
Poor value but perhaps a defective bottle.

I tasted this wine at the winery and enjoyed it. Something happened to this bottle and it tastes like chicken fat. I have another bottle that I will open soon to see if perhaps the one bottle was simply bad.
  • alwebb2000 commented:

9/11/13, 6:32 PM - If you suspect a flawed bottle, you shouldn't post a score.

  • alwebb2000 commented:

9/12/13, 9:06 AM - Or to be fair to the wine, at least post the review where you had it at the winery and liked it.
