Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Marchese Antinori Franciacorta Tenuta Montenisa Brut Rosé Franciacorta DOCG Champagne Blend
I was already intrigued by the 30 years of ageing boasted on the package. I have not tried that many sparkling rosé wines in my life, but this is really good: good definition of both red berries and yeasty aromas, nice weight on the palate and fresh acidity. At the same time the mousse is very creamy, silky, adding much pleasure. Red fruit in the aftertaste as well.
Someone said it tasted of sakuramochi, a typical cherry flavored Japanese rice cake and I agree.

"Soothing". I like it.

Red
2014 Bernhard Huber Malterdinger Spätburgunder Baden
Very elegant: bright red fruit accompanied by underling iron minerality and delicate smoky aromas.
Very fresh acidity, medium body, a bit low in tannin.

Nice length (red fruits lingering in the aftertaste) and nice aromatic intensity, although more elegant than what you would expect from Baden.

I basically agree with the drinking window specified on the page, though 2026 seems a bit too late.
    Thank you!

N.V. Opus One Overture Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend
Wonderful balance. Aromas are bright red fruit, pungent cinnamon spice with underling toast, coffee beans and a certain stalky greenness.
Really good in the mouth as well, not too heavy, well defined acidity and solid body. Alcohol is perfectly integrated and does not really seem 14.5%. You could drink a bottle of this one and still ask for more.
Toast and coffee beans come back in the aftertaste, persisting delicately for some time.

You can't really go wrong with this one: ripe fruit (peach, apple), nutty, savoury, bready aromas screaming "Champagne" to your nose. Well tuned acidity and creamy mousse in the mouth, softer style. Good length.
Maybe not the most personal cuvee out there, but fit to every palate.

6/2/17, 6:15 PM - Really? To me this kind of wines seems very easy to approach, made to please as many people as possible. Of course if you prefer a crispier style that may not be true for you.

Red
2010 Domaine Etxegaraya Irouléguy Cuvée Lehengoa Tannat Blend, Tannat
Not a simple wine to approach.

On the nose it reminded me the earthiness of many Bordeaux reds, together with meaty, barnyard (sweaty horse) and dry herb (rosemary) aromas. There is some fruit, mainly raisin and dark plums.

In the mouth it stands for its acidity, which makes this wine enjoyable only with the right food or after a long time of cellaring. Body and tannin are as you would expect for a tannat base wine. The fruits is a little bit stronger here than on the nose.
