2014 Tscharke Shiraz Shiraz Shiraz Shiraz Barossa Valley
Opened and immediately the aroma of vanilla oak pounded the senses. Decanted for an hour. The colour was young red purple hew. Lurking underneath the oak bunker were typical Barossa dark fruits. The first sip confirmed its an oak bomb. I did think it mellowed a little, however it just became even more overpowering the more I drank. In the end even the vanilla oaky loving wife could not stand the smell or stomach it. Shame really. It had been bought with such promise and respected advisement. It just shows you cant be right all the time! It might improve over time.

Decanted for a couple of hours. The nose an aroma of red and black fruit, florals too. The mouthfeel was full and the finish medium to long. The oak integrating but this vino has a long life ahead of it and will taste again in 2 years. Points will improve no doubt!

Do not understand the hype behind this wine. Bottle was not flawed and decanted for an hour or more. Any California syrah from a average year beats this. Very disjointed on the palate - hard to discern any consistent, pleasant flavor.
