5/9/24, 2:16 AM - This is a great note - you hit the nail on the head.
3/9/24, 2:47 PM - Hi - thanks for the comment. They had a Lanson Cuvée called ‘Noble’ on board, which I preferred to the Pommery. Actually, after writing my note I learned that the Pommery was regularly served on Concorde back in the day, so there is a nice historical link there.
2/1/24, 10:31 AM - Hi there - I hope you won’t mind my leaving a comment (and a question) on this note. I am greatly intrigued by the bottle weights you give on many of your tasting notes. Do you seek lighter bottles for reasons of easier storage? I have noted that many producers these days put their wines in absurdly thick and elaborately-designed bottles that must add unnecessary cost (as well as weight). I’m always keen to learn from my fellow CellarTracker members. Cheers.
7/14/23, 1:32 PM - Wow! A score of 95 places this around the 97th percentile of the many notes you have contributed to this site. That is very high praise indeed, sir. And I agree: this is a very good wine.
4/21/23, 1:51 PM - “floral flavors of grandma’s perfume and decorative bathroom soaps” - totally nailed it. Perfect!
4/11/23, 3:31 PM - Awesome - glad to hear. I had this in Heathrow airport of all places. British Airways must have someone canny buying their wines.
3/17/23, 10:42 AM - Thanks for the comment. Valuable insight!
2/6/22, 6:27 AM - This is really interesting to read - when I finished my last bottle in 2019 it felt like it was already peaking.
3/15/20, 8:35 AM - Hi, if you have time, would you mind editing your score to 91, please? This will help to avoid the score being skewed. Thanks very much for the note and happy drinking.
2/19/19, 10:58 AM - Excellent note - fully agreed.
1/26/19, 3:40 PM - Congratulations - I’ve heard these can go on for many years, and your note confirms this nicely.
3/23/17, 6:45 AM - Thanks for the notes. I am holding two of these. Apparently this producer went bust, so there may not be many opportunities left to enjoy his stuff.
1/17/17, 2:09 PM - Good note. Thanks.
12/2/15, 1:30 PM - I'm glad someone else got camphor - I'm not imagining it. Don't mean to diss anyone who enjoys this wine, but I could barely choke the 2015 down. Foul.
11/13/15, 9:58 AM - Cool note. I'm getting another bottle soon, so will watch out for the pool toy note - do you mean a rubbery kind of vibe?
10/8/15, 7:14 AM - Thanks for the comment Greg. i actually wasn't too upset about this because we still got a lot of pleasure out of it and I have otherwise been very lucky with my purchases of cellared wines (no badly corked bottles yet - touch wood).
10/22/15, 1:34 PM - Greg, many thanks for these thoughts. Although I had read up on the difference between oxidation and cork taint, I must admit that I initially blamed the cork for this particular faulty bottle. I'm now sure it was a storage issue. I have to say my research was pretty poor - I now know that the '96 should not be as dark as this bottle was (I suppose this is why Sauternes comes in clear glass - so you can judge by the colour). I'd like to learn more about the issue of 'premoxing' in white wines. I've read that this can happen when the bottle is filled too full.
10/7/15, 9:03 AM - Thanks for the comment back, Greg. The '01 is definitely on the bucket list for me. One day. ;)
10/7/15, 3:15 AM - Great note.
10/2/15, 12:16 PM - Yquem from magnum = you win Cellartracker :)
9/19/15, 1:06 PM - I just had another bottle of this and its cork was soaked also. Kind of scary for such a recent release.
7/11/15, 10:09 AM - Glad to hear you have more rounds in the chamber, so to speak!
6/20/15, 8:01 AM - Hi there - I was wondering if either of you preferred the '91 over the '94 (or vice versa). I want to buy some and can't afford both.
6/29/15, 11:23 AM - Thanks - I took delivery of a bottle of '91 today. :)
6/28/15, 1:52 AM - Good comment, Paul. I guess I was thinking 'how would this compare to something more expensive but in the same style' and instant drinkability seemed a plus point. I should say it's not totally structureless; there was some of that going on. But take your point that perhaps I'm comparing apples and oranges there...
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
