2020 Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône Syrah

A restrained nose but an attentively chewy syrah. Young. Dark and broody. Great legs. Black fruit and forest floor. Forthright. Dry. Alcoholic texture at first but softens within the hour. Lacks much acidity. Has a short/medium finish. However, it is a very good value CdR nonetheless.

8/14/22, 12:10 PM - Agree on almost all counts, particularly giving it an hour decant. Absolutely marvelous by hour 3. I'd bump my rating to 90/91 especially given the current $11 @ Costco.

2015 Domaine Guion Bourgueil Cuvée Domaine Cabernet Franc

Sporting classic Bourgueil notes of red berries, underbrush, orange pomander ball, and an ethereal top note of delicate florality. The 2015 Domaine Guion Cuvée Domaine Bourgueil is angular and tight with high-toned acidity, like crushed raw cranberry—it has a definite edge and considerable tartness, with tannins perched on the fore-palate. An earthy, mineral note emerges at the close. Best enjoyed with food.

12/4/17, 9:02 PM - The bright fruit tartness really settles down after 24 and 48 hours. Quite lovely over time. Agree with 89 points.

N: Dusty plum, underbrush, leather, pencil shavings/pencil lead, very nice mature Bordeaux nose (7-8)
P: Medium body, resolved tannin which is nicely integrated and still has some grip, good acidity, dried tobacco, mineral/lead/graphite (6)
F: Medium to medium minus length, plum makes a little come back, (3)
M: Fully mature and drinking great at 22 yrs old (4-5)
QpR is awesome, these are the bottles you say I wish I had more. Great food wine, easy drinking and delivers enough to be enjoyable on its own. 90-92

3/31/17, 2:01 PM - Well stated. Had the third bottled last night on about an hour's decant. Although mature, it does sip well. Came alive even more with braised lamb shanks. Need to finish these up this year.
