If you’re a little patient, I mean like no less than a 1.5 hour decant, you’ll get past the strong oak overtones of vanilla that Chris notes. The nose becomes increasingly floral. I get dried violets. It’s a huge wine through and through - not for the classical palate. It shows nice dark fruit up front with good acid - boysenberry maybe. The tannins only soften slightly after decant, and it has floral notes and chalk in the long, long finish.

The bouquet is distinctly floral, violets and pencil shavings. Deep, rich fruit on the front end of the palate with boysenberry pie and medium body. Finish is lengthy with graphite and cedar. Excellent way to finish the week!

Dark cherry and straw on the nose. Nice acid balance with dark cherry, tart blackberry and minerality with a gorgeous mouth feel. Graphite in the mid pallette. Nice structure but elegant with soft tannins. Long, lasting finish.

The 2016 G3 has a luscious nose with rich, dark fruit, dark cherry. It shows strong notes of plum, blackberry and a little dark chocolate on the finish. It has a little of the bruised strawberry that I've come to expect from this vineyard. It's fun to drink and has a nice mouth feel. I love Mike Smith. I would say that it would benefit from better acid balance. The tannins and lasting finish make up for this in part. I think this wine is drinkable now.

Distinct notes of bruised strawberry on the nose and early palate. As strong as I've ever encountered in a cab with this kind of tannic structure. Made for a very excellent dinner choice last night.

Decanted 6 hours or so. First impression was tobacco, like a good cigar. Got notes of chocolate and coffee on the nose. Forest berry and allspice in the finish. Terrific mouth feel with soft tannins that finish with bite. No let down in the mid pallet. Really enjoyed this wine.

Decanted for 2 hours. Strong nose of saw dust, maybe pencil shavings. Blueberry and dark red cherry with noticeable oak. Nice tannins through mid palate. Good acid balance.
