RP 2011 87/100 Note: The 2011 Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore shows a delicate and almost ethereal side to Ripasso that is otherwise very difficult to find in this category of hearty Italian red wine. Leather, tobacco, spicy oak and molasses frame lighter nuances of forest berry and cassis. The mouthfeel is crisp and lean. Drink 2014-2018. The Giuseppe Campagnola brand has existed since 1907 and has seen five generations at the helm of its winemaking operations. Today, the estate buys fruit from more than 50 growers who collectively farm 80 hectares in the area, 30 of which are located in Valpolicella. The Campagnola brand refers to various wines made in the Verona area and the Caterina Zardini brand is specifically for wines made in Valpolicella.

Winery: A pure representation of the grape that forms the basis of our Viognier-Marsanne, this is a warm and friendly wine with notes of stone fruit, baked peach, and ginger spice. A delightfully satisfying white to be served slightly below room-temperature with a coconut curry or a yam and apple bake.

Winery: Fermented in stainless steel to enhance freshness, this blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier combines the expressive tropical fruit notes of warm climate Sauv Blanc with the uplifting structure of Viognier. An extended ripening season provided this wine with generous fruit flavours of grapefruit, pineapple, and crisp peach.

Winery: Ample and voluminous, showing ripe black fruit, mineral, and savory spice notes. Elements of blueberry on the nose lead to a current and blackberry palate framed by fine tannins. An immediate favourite for both our Xwine regulars and newcomers alike.

Winery: A limited production, single vineyard Merlot from Intersection’s estate vineyard. Deep rock and silt soils produce an age-worthy wine of purity, elegance, and structure with bold notes of dark wild cherry and licorice. A true example of how soil composition can deeply effect a wine’s flavour, as the much different “Silica” wine is made with the same grapes, only planted meters apart in different soil types.

Winery: A richly textured Sauvignon Blanc, demonstrating elements of bright pineapple and candied fruit. Whole bunch pressed with free run juice fermented 35 days in new and neutral French oak barrels, aged on lees for 6 months, and blended with stainless steel Sauv Blanc. The tropical notes and seductive texture are supported by well integrated oak that lends a tone of grilled fruit to this gorgeous wine.

Winery: Lively fruit nose, brimming with the scent of fresh rain on hot stones. On the palate, crisp green apple merges with zesty lime peel to create a bright and refreshing wine that belies a gentle softening sweetness.

Winery: Ripasso is made by combining our premium Merlot with the skins from the Appassimento press, blending the lively fruit notes of our classic flagship Merlot with the boldness and texture of the Appassimento. A beautifully structured wine that, like the Appassamento, will refine with age over decades. Pair with lamb tajine, olives, and almonds.

Winery: At last, a blend of our acclaimed Alluvia Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with the inclusion of Cabernet Sauvignon to set this wine among the great classic blends. The inaugural release of this new staple boasts a full, robust structure with toasty tones of cassis, plum, and black cherry. A wine with significant presence, catch the Axiom now in its early stages and age over the next 10 years. Pairs beautifully with beef tenderloin and bordelaise sauce or crispy roast duck.
