Drinking reasonably well. Somehow a little less complex than I recall from other bottles of this vintage.

1/10/21, 2:32 PM - Yes. Probably only 30 minutes or so.

This bottle just didn’t have the normal special something I’ve found with other ‘14 Pape Clements.

We did corkage at our club...perhaps the glasses or decanter weren’t pristine? By no means a bad wine, but missed the mark of being really good.

Wow. Better than I expected. Strong structure with comfortable tannins.

Really enjoying this wine. The fruits are robust and complex, but not excessive. Solid structure but without and overburden of tannins. I'd start slowly drinking now - but knowing these have a solid 5+ years to continue to mature.

    9/7/19, 6:01 AM - I'd give it at least 30-45 minutes.

Good, not great. Brown around the edges. Perhaps past prime. Disappointing for a GR.

1/1/18, 7:55 AM - Hi. Thanks for your insights! I’m hopeful as I have a few more to go.

This one had a bit of brown around the edge. Would you expect that? The cork seemed fine.

This is absolutely singing, anything you'd expect from a top Barolo. Still has plenty of life, better to wait another 5 years.
  • TomOfCT commented:

7/25/17, 5:31 PM - I had this wine in 2008 and noted it would be tops ten years from now. Sounds like that played out in your bottle.

I was considering buying more recently...but a fair number of the recent reviews showed many bottles didn't hold. Sad.

Tor Kenward Premier Tasting Event at Meadowood (Meadowood Resort, Napa): This was smartly the first Cabernet (+Cab blends) of the lineup. Medium bodied, and showing a little like a second-rate Cabernet at this stage, this wine struggled to come out of its shell and display any noteworthy flavors at the moment. A little thin mid-palate, with a fairly short finish.

Specific notes of red and faint black fruit, red currant, plum, cedar, and alcohol. Gained points for being smooth and accessible for a 2014. Lost a little in the intensity and complexity categories. Not worth the QPR in my opinion. Stick with the Vineyard Designate wines from Tor when it comes to Cabernets and BDX style blends.

90-92 points for now; likely topping out in that respective point range, max.

7/2/17, 7:30 PM - Drinking this now, you couldn't call the wine thin.

  • TomOfCT commented:

7/3/17, 5:12 AM - I don't doubt your bottle was thin. The robustness of what we had isn't something that would have developed in a year...rather may be a sign of inconsistency.

    We've got 11 more to go... :)

Tasted at Maisonry with the winemaker.

Deep red color. Aromatic with age. Aromas of burnt leaves, baking spice, vanilla and fresh hay. Dry with a light to medium body. Crisp acidity with high round and dry tannins. Fair balance. Flavorful with red fruits and strawberries. Some ash to the taste.

Ok.
