15% alcohol, blend of 45% Garnatxa, 29% Carinyana, 16% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dense, slightly purplish, garnet, almost full bodied, mixture of fresh berries, mostly blueberry, blackberry plus some raspberry. Right touch of woods, spices. Plenty of tannins but quite smooth. Excellent mid palate. With some aeration it smells like quite modern but classy Bordeaux. Best on day 1 and 2. 93.5~94/100.

2016 Mollydooker Shiraz Blue Eyed Boy South Australia

Excellent balance of everything, fruits, sweetness, bitterness, wood and spices. Very smooth and full, plush. Lots of fragrant blueberries and vivid raspberries, which is unusual. Cloves, pepper, vanilla, oak, sweet chocolate. The full contents of flavor overwhelm the otherwise overwhelming high level of alcohol, 16%. One of the most delicious red wines.

12/23/19, 2:39 PM - You don't have to open it now, you don't have to wait longer, either. You can open it now and you'll love it if you give it a Mollydooker shake and some aeration, maybe 10 min.

2015 Château Puygueraud Francs Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend

Quite in the middle of everything. It could be a Bordeaux, an Italian somewhere, a Rhone, or a Chilean. No tint of purple. Medium plus bodied, a bit oily. Notes of cherry, dark berries without blueberry, old used barrel, and some kind of disinfectant. But the elements are not well calibrated, thus quite disjointed with hot alcohol and bitterness. Neither young, nor old, but an oxidated hint on finish. Soon drops under 86/100. On days 2 & 3, it is a little better. Cooked tomato sauce with basil on the nose. But still 87/100.

Blend of Merlot 84%, Cabernet Franc 14%, Cabernet Sauvignon 2%. 14.5%. Medium plus bodied. It's already 'going.' No fresh fruit, no oak, no spices, just some oxidized grape juice with cooked dried jujube note. Short finish. The wine has been kept in cellar over a year since it was imported from France. Definitely not flawed but very disappointing. (Unexpectedly it gets just a little better on day 3, when it's 87+/100)

After some decanting it was still too tight. Showed medium minus intensity on the nose, with hints of oak, vanilla, blackberry and mint. Medium body and the tannin has a smooth texture. Color is dark ruby. After 2 hours it showed soy sauce plus sesame oil kind of flavor, slightly sweeter, slight hint of spice like clove and some prune. After a day it didn't open eventually, just ended up with cooked plum flavor, a little jammy, interestingly showed Hanji smell (Korean traditional paper). It got more bitter and soy sauce like. No sensation of fruitiness, juiciness, cedar, leather, etc. Finally on the 3rd day, the unpleasant flavor of the last day somewhat decreased and still tastes like cooked apple rind on the bitter side.

After 2 hours' slow decanting (I just opened it and let it sit in a cool place) I poured. Somewhat pale, less saturated garnet color made me suspicious. Nose showed little character. On palate, it's medium bodied, just a little note of berries, oak, and boiled egg. Medium length finish. It's not a bad wine but definitely no charm there. Some others rated it highly and I would agree it is true. Mine is not that good maybe because It was too cold when delivered, I am not sure. It arrived on a very cold day (-14˚C) and the bottle was -5˚C. Of course it was not frozen at the temperature but it may have influenced the character at least a little. I will try it again some time later.
