Yellow golden...oxidative style...brioche, rich....

1/3/23, 6:27 AM - Decanting Queen. Depends on whether you like the Bollinger oxidative style. Given how champagne prices have risen this past year, I’d say it’s in the ballpark for value.

Quite bright, laser like acidity. Brioche, apple, lemon. Long. Should develop into a great DP with all of its structure.

7/14/19, 9:22 AM - If you can find the 02 Winston at a decent price, buy.....08 for the long haul, but bury in the cellar.

Funky nose initially with truffle mushroom. Better with air. Big rich and long. Structured. Still moderate tannins on finish. Kept getting better and better with time I the glass . Grand Cru quality

3/15/15, 4:32 PM - Yes, I think there's no hurry on drinking...good structure and has a few more years in it I believe...

Loved it. Mature, leather, tobacco..balanced. Some dusty tannins on the finish.

9/25/14, 8:11 PM - I would decant from sediment and serve immediately. Let it develop in the glass. Very nice wine. Hope you have a good bottle !

Stone fruits, citrus. Round. Could use more cut..Lacks complexity. Finish a bit short. Not bad, but in stiff competition with several heavyweight grand crus.

4/3/14, 6:19 PM - I haven't had an issue with thew wines being advanced in the ones that I have had…but always a risk..most that I have had have been on the younger side…might be concerned with late 90's or early 00's

Very nice. Great balance with just a hint of brioche. Nice apple, pear notes. Very fresh with nice length.

2/26/14, 12:05 PM - Sorry I don't have the disgorgement date...brought by a friend to dinner and bottle has been tossed. The wine was drinking well and was enjoyable, however, I love older champagnes and I think this one will hold up for the long haul.

Very interesting. Much more floral, stem, celery, herbal notes on the nose than previous bottles...almost to a fault imo. Spice. Great fruit, acid and balance. Complex. ? off bottle.
  • rnellans commented:

2/22/14, 12:35 PM - From the same case as a bottle that I had a couple of years ago, that did not have the same intense green notes on the nose. So not sure if just an off bottle, or if it's going through some strange phase.

really lovely, went well with stir fry prime beef filet asian style.
dry with hint of sweetness a HINT...
  • rnellans commented:

8/24/13, 11:57 AM - I didn't pick up a lot of sweetness in this particular bottle. Maybe the acidity balanced it out so well. So not sure if it could have been a different bottling...I also see that i didn't finish my note for some reason..

Very nice NV. Citrus, apples. Just the right amount of toast.

I like this better than BH notes. Darker than the 07 Sauzet BBM served alongside. Pineapple, citrus notes. No pox! Rich and lush, but still good acidity. Excellent structure with dry extract coating the palate.
  • rnellans commented:

4/20/13, 12:57 PM - Fred, I think that I would be drinking this one up and it won't likely get a lot better imo..And it's drinking really well now. It's always a guess...but the pox scare is always there. And I would think in magnum there should be no hurry.

Popped and poured for a dinner of basted chicken---really tasty and full of flavor and depth. I will enjoy my remaining over the next three years.
  • rnellans commented:

7/12/11, 2:59 PM - I just had the wine last night, and found too much herbaceous aromas for me. A good example of the 'Greenie Meanies" IMO.
