Medium oak, a little oily but well balanced. Low acidity and citrus in favor of a soft, gentle apple and cream.

Gil: Heavy alcohol on the nose gives it a light floral bouquet, something similar to pressed linen.

Steph: I don't smell anything.

Gil: heavy acidity gives it a spiciness that is interesting. Sour, unripe blackberry, or plum.

Steph: Low fruit and a heavy acidity. Very light, no earth or mushrooms. Acidity drowns out most of the fruit but maybe plum.

Tobacco on the nose with subtle blackberry. On the palette low acidity with a leather, tobacco, red currant and blackberry base.

On opening, almost overwhelmingly acidic with medium sugar. After some breathing time (including tasting again the following night) the wine mellowed beautifully to an a luscious, almost buttery mix of acidity, citrus and sugar. Beautiful if decanted.

Rock fruit on the nose, some grapefruit with citrus otherwise taking a backseat. Very fruit forward, nicely balanced with medium acidity: a nice, light, refreshing summer wine.

Nice, butterscotch-y nose, similar to a Chardonnay. A lot of mineral and acid without much weight. A nice, supple oily layer helps soften the acid.

Light and fruit forward, especially for a Zin. Nose is all berries and jam, with less alcohol than expected. Lighter body than most zins, again that may be the age, but very fruit forward on the palette. Almost a jammy Pinot. Drinking very nicely if you don't miss the body. Light but not young.

Definitely a bit past its drink by, but still a nice, big, fruit heavy Syrah. Agree with other tasting notes - dark fruit, balsamic, less structure than I would expected. Still impressive after all these years.
