Inviting nose of sweet red fruits, iron, blood orange, exotic spices, vanilla. Silky and intense on the palate framed by chalky tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is really long but there’s a bitter note which will hopefully resolve with time in the bottle.

2010 R. López de Heredia Rioja Blanco Viña Gravonia Viura, Macabeo
Decanted in the morning, poured it back into the bottle 4 hours later and enjoyed it at dinner, but more time would have been even better. Nice interaction between oxidative notes and fruit (mainly curry, apple and lemon), mouth watering acidity, medium bodied and a very long finish. Already superb but will get even better with some more years in the cellar. Highly recommendable but unfortunately hard to get it here in Switzerland.

Long day decant. It needed it. Last glass was the best.
Deep garnet in color. Medium-minus body
Wet cardboard, wet concrete. Austere.
Loads of red berries. Unctuous. Medium plus finish.
Really nice as a food sipping wine. A little aggressive alone, but good. Amazing price. Good juice!

I am a big LdH fan but had never tried the rosado. I was curious, so I bought a few bottles at the premium price. Absolutely loved it—nutty, waxy, and fruity. Like someone put raspberries and strawberries into my LdH Blanco. I will enjoy the bottles that I have, but unless I can find it at closer to the winery price, I’ll stick to the Blanco for a similarly pleasurable drinking experience.
