Soft, elegant - not a strong vintage but a lovely claret

Simply astounding. This bottle was disgorged in 2009 and represents one of the finest Initials I have tasted. We used Bordeaux glasses, and the color was an iridescent deep golden hue. On the nose, an intoxicating scent of apricots, honey, and mineral. On the palate, the classic maderized profile of Selosse wines, with an unctuous viscosity with notes of apricots and honey notes. This was drunk with an appetizer of raw oysters and tune poke, as well as mains of black cod and chilean sea bass. Looking forward to drinking this special wine again in the future.

A meticulously maintained bottle over the years, this bottle showed beautifully and paired wonderfully with the genius culinary effort of David Chang's Majordomo in LA. Lovely deep red/purple color in the glass. A beautiful floral and cherry nose that was full and round. On the palate, it was utter magic with a foundation of earthiness and ripe cherries. Tannins were completely integrated and just enough acid to keep it all together. Just a magical bottle.

I'm a big fan of Ferren wines, both the whites and reds, and this did not disappoint. Popped and poured. Wonderful white flower and melon on the nose, followed by a rich palate of melon, quince, crushed rocks, and apple. In my mind, very similar to Marcassin Charodnnays, which of course is no surprise considering the winemaker's experience there.

The last of my bottles - drank at a wood-fire pizza party we hosted. I thought this would go well with some of the meatier pizza selections. In sum, a beautiful bottle. I opened the bottle while it was still a bit chilled, so the nose was a bit reticent. As it warmed, the wine was lush on the palate. The tannins were largely integrated but had the backbone to hold another 5+ years. Dark fruit, blackberries, blueberries on the palate with a peppery note as well. Good acidity to keep ti all together. Look forward to the other vintages that I am holding.

The first bottle of Cirq that I have opened. Cellared since delivery from the winery. Low expectations - while I have drunk Kosta-Browne for years, I thought this would just be another rendition. From the first sniff to the first sip, I realized quickly, this was a whole new beast altogether. On the nose, a beautiful bouquet of cherry, raspberries - not overwhelming but pure. On the palate, these same bright red fruits sang from the glass and balanced so wonderfully with an acidic backbone which lifted and supported the fruit. The tannins were well integrated, and this was one of the best California pinots that I have had in several months (I drink a lot of it). After letting my mailing list status lapse, I signed back up!

Cellared since release from the winery. Popped and poured. In the glass, golden yellow with fluorescent green tinge. Nose reticent at first, then giving way to pear and still traces of oak, but not overly so. On the palate, just a gorgeous wine with elements of ripe pear, marshmallow, citrus and floral notes. The best Three Sisters that I have had - while not as profound as the Estate, an incredibly enjoyable experience.

Absolutely gorgeous wine from a great vintage - lovely evolving fruit, integrated tannins and enough acid to keep it together. This is how I would like my aged Aussie Shiraz.
