It wasn’t their best season. I probably made the mistake of keeping it too long. It was medium body with a moderately long palate. Not what I come to expect from a Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier. Enjoyable just the same

A wine with special qualities. In spite of its 16 years of age it was still a bright crimson, with aromas of dark cherry and plum. It was medium body with complex flavours of spice and liquorice through a long finish.

I treated it with the respect it deserved. It had been kept in ideal cellar conditions. I let it stand for 2 hours to allow the fines to settle then carefully decanted the wine with a torch, not allowing any of the fines to reach the decanter. I then let it breathe for 2 hours.
The colour had lost its bright berry hue, was moving towards amber and had lost some depth. The aroma was of spices, leathery and earthy which flowed through to the palate. The acid and tannins had all but disappeared. It was savory and long on the palate.
It was enjoyed by my audience of a 30 year old grandchild his wife and 3 friends. Although enjoyed by all the general view was that they may have preferred it more if it did not have as much age and showed some fruit.

Outstanding semillon with superior character and style. All that I expect from a good Lovedale Semillon. I sensed it could improve even more over the next 4 year. However, excellent drinking now.

Outstanding wine of superior character and style. Deep brooding opaque crimson daak cherry. Fragrant black berries with a pleasant hint of smokey oak.Well balanced with the dark fruits carrying into the mouth with the introduction of pepper and spice as it moves to the back of the long lingering palate.

An outstanding Pinot Grigio. Attractive bright peach blush colour. An immediate sense of white peach or white nectarine & crisp red apple on the nose. Likeable texture & flavour translates to the palate with a long finish.

A classic great wine living up to its potential. I feel we drank it a bit before its time. Crimson to black cherry, concentrated dark fruits with the vanilla oak a little forward hints of dark chocolate. Mouth filling with a long finish. I look forward to trying my next bottle post 2028.
