Dry & earthy with some underlying dark and red fruit trying to get out.
Left it sit on the counter for 2 days - the fruit never made it.
Will revisit this wine in two to three years

The friut is some what subdued but there is still a lot of earthiness. I'm more of a syrah fan so for me this wine is drinking wonderfully right now.

1st & 2nd dark garnet in color
1st persistant dark cherry soft and clinging with a smooth wanting more finish
2nd - fading red fruit and and a short almost dry finish

I lied. It hasn't been 6 months but I couldn't resist. I should have!
I'm beginning to think this zin is just going to be an average home made dago red. The nose was very friuty on first pour but quickly went to more earth tones. On the palate there's no fruit just non-descript wine - quaffing type.
I think I'll give a bottle to a wine snob I know and get her opinion. See you in three months.

For those who have been checking for comments on this wine I should tell you that this is homemade in partnership with self made wine maker Mike Monateri. J & G Vineyards is my & my wife's initials to spiff up the label.
We pressed the grapes in a 100 year old antique press and let it age in glass casks for 14 months then added oak chips. We bottled in Oct of 2010. The wine has been inconsistant from bottlle to bottle thus the up & down rating. The cost represents my out of pocket expenses for the project. See you in 6 months.

last botle of the case - not impressed
I think the enthusiasm of an apparent good value supressed what I was tasting
This is a $6.00 wine that tastes like a $6.50 wine - lesson learned, I hope.
