For a 2008 I was very surprised by how ready this was to drink. Soft yet structured with a full palate of all the nuances a cab franc brings to the table. Drink in the next two years.

I had such low expectations for this bottle but it was excellent. For an older wine I thought it had plenty of life in it (especially at the $14 price I paid). The color was brick red and the wine was thick and viscous with the traditional characteristics you'd expect from St. Emilion

Bright golden yellow color. Nose of toast. Nice, crisp acidity with a smooth mouthfeel. Creamy in the mouth. It's either got no finish or a very long one. Can't tell yet.

Purchased this bottle many years ago directly from the winery. I was worried that this wine may be over the hill in terms of age but it seems ok. There seems to be a toned down sense of tannins but you can feel some are still around. The color is still extremely thick and there aren't any signs of an orange or aging rim. The nose seems muted but I hope it will open up soon. There's a pronounced wet leather smell with crushed berries and cherry. There's also a woody smell... Cedar?

The wine is still very rich on the palette. It's got a grape soda flavor.

This wine was enjoyed with good company as a prelude to a 2002 Pahlmyer. Nice tannins and a delicious smooth silky mouthfeel.

Nose of luscious apricot, mountain air, crisp golden apple, honey and a great viscosity.

This wine had a huge expression of alcohol and hot fruit upon the opening. It mellowed out after a few minutes and remained pretty hot. The tannins were interesting with so much age on this wine and I liked how balanced the wine was.

Good flavors of roasted carrot and fennel - more of a green vegetal nose and flavor than the '01. Not bad for $5 but the '01 was better for me.

On first taste, I thought this bottle was flawed. On the second day it was not flawed, just not a good effort compared to the '97 and the '01.

This wine took some time to develop. On the initial taste (which is viewable on my blog, www.potentialgold.com) the wine had rich aromas of ripe red fruit, tobacco and black pepper.

On the second day of it being opened it showed much friendlier notes of chocolate, vanilla and bing cherries.

Awesome for $5!

This bottle was funky - lots of tanin with a short finish and an unpleasant taste. The nose was nice but the flavors were not my thing.

This wine was mehhhh - tasted like watered down grape juice to me. Drinkable but wouldn't buy it again even at the purchase price of $5.00

Upon opening, the high alcohol and closed wine was prevalent. After about 15 minutes there was a bit of an opening and big red fruits and berries poured from the nose. I drank it at about 65 F which I though was a bit too warm.

The mouthfeel of the wine was something very nice. It was big and smooth and the finish was pretty long. It was an OK bottle at $25. I would drink it again if I had more, and it was colder (temp.) - on the second day it really opened up and was delicious.
