1/27/24, 7:10 PM - I agree with KillerJones. Excellent QPR and very approachable both for those with sophisticated pallets and those who just like good wine. I think that it is hard to go wrong with this wine.
6/14/22, 9:23 AM - I find the wine to be Pop and Pour at this point. It improves very slightly with about a half hour of air. I found little benefit from using an aerator.
12/5/21, 4:49 PM - As always, you offer helpful data, insights and evaluation that make this journey through wine richer and more fun. Thank you! Best regards- Bill
10/8/21, 5:43 PM - As always, helpful additional information. I greatly appreciate your knowledge and insight. Best regards- Bill
8/15/21, 8:39 AM - Thanks. Very informative.
9/20/20, 5:49 PM - We paired this wine with a lasagna which had beef, veal, tomato, onion, garlic, spice, pasta and béchamel sauce. It was slow-cooked to allow the flavors to meld. The Sangiovese wine is a good match and this one specifically paired depth and smooth tannin to complement rather than overpower the dish.
8/4/21, 11:29 AM - thanks for the discussion and data.
2/28/21, 7:54 AM - very useful perspective on the wine. Thanks for sharing it.
12/10/20, 8:01 AM - Lots of cellar time available for this wine. Opening one per year for six years would be a good strategy.
9/2/20, 11:23 AM - My cellar is naturally cool and ranges in temperature from 54-62 degrees with humidity of about 75-80%. It is dark other than when the lights are on. Racks are completely horizontal. The wine in question was purchased from an out-of-state liquor store and delivered by mail in winter.
10/24/18, 7:24 PM - The 12,13 and 14 years were particularly strong in concentration. This bottle was less so. Matt Cline does a great job, but we need to expect vintage variation. I stocked up in the good years and have found that the drinking window is Cellar Tracker is conservative.
4/14/14, 8:51 PM - I tend to be a fair rater overall and possibly my description belies the strengths of the wine. My experience has been that integration often comes with time. I enjoyed this wine and anticipate enjoying it more with about a year of additional cellar time. Many who drink it now will enjoy its merits and, like me will not grade it too harshly based upon its current limitations. I stand by my rating. Thanks for engaging in the dialogue. Best regards- Bill
