Pnp from a 375 ml half bottle. Clearly an example of Bordeaux producers that are making wine to drink upon release. This is a polished medium to full bodied St Julien with notes of pencil shavings, leather, cassis and dark fruit. Retronasal olfaction reveals the vanilla from the oak. Tannis are fine grained and the finish is superb. This will obviously cellar well, but why wait?

10/10/23, 11:23 PM - Thank you. I have a case of the 2019s. I’ll be sure to heed your advice on a few bottles at least

3 Hour decant. Had side by side with the HB 16. Not fair to place them side by side, but held up on its own. Red fruit, wood spice and silky tannins. A reminder to why I go back to Bordeaux all the time. Crazy QPR. Wow!

2014 is one of my favorite vintages if you consider that 05, 09, and 10 are slowly coming around; 07, 08, 11 and 12 can be uneven in quality with surprises in both directions; and 15,16,18,19 and 20 are wines to drink in the late 20s and 30s. I have found 14’s to be consistently high quality, fresh and appraochable, like 11, but with more stuffing.

I recall this wine was one my favorite’s at UGCB tasting in NY (@ Sotheby’s). This bottle was 3 of 12 from my cellar. I would say it could use another 6-12 months in cellar, but is very good right now. The color is more purple than red and the nose is pencil lead, red berries and some slate/earth. The taste is a surprising balance of red and blue fruit and fresh earth. Yum!

Love this CDP. Crunchy red berry with rosemary notes. Fine and present tannins

So pretty! What a nice Margaux should taste like. Red and blue fruit with slight green notes on the nose. Black Tea, cocoa, vanilla and cedar on the palette with juicy acidity. Finesse and balance is what this wine is about.

7/17/22, 7:06 AM - No decanting. Coravin pour and swirling in the glass. Not tannic and ready to go...
