This wine needs significant time to decant… even in 2021. However once decanted it’s a true symphony. All the components are in harmony and flavor is lush. Still drank well on day 3.

2012 is drinking beautifully. Great integration and still retains nuanced flavors. Decanted for 1hr.

For an 18yr old wine that’s not really known as a wine to cellar, I had zero expectations.
Required a 30 min plus decant. Was drinkable from the get go. But better with air time. Smooth. No complexity, but not in a bad way, was an easy drinker. Since I can’t recall if this wine ever had complexity, can’t say if it was past it’s prime or not. All in all it aged well.

This was a recent vintage. 2019 even though none marked. I judged it on its own merit… not previous reviews. This was a sweet and crisp white. Like a refreshing but slightly hedonistic treat. Offering up a blend of sweet and crisp. I didn’t really get a strong Chardonnay vibe when I tasted it. Not a lot of oak. It was served at correct temp. Opened up over the course of 30-45 min. Much smoother and integrated once it opened up. The nose had a Chardonnay like aroma, but the palate was a sweet Pinot Grigio. Pear and apple with a kick of sweetness. Not a sugar bomb, definitely sweeter than a typical Pinot Grigio. Hard to easily categorize. But much more drinkable than a dessert wine. Paired with shrimp and butter noodles.

Not the usual tasting. Enjoyed for an hour or two on the boat, then finished it off at the campfire with S’mores. Paired remarkably well. Initially needed time to open up, then it was smooth and the balance and flavor really came out. Took about 30 minutes in glass to open up. No decanter on hand. Quite surprised that it had such a nice flavor. Would drink again.

A nice wine to drink at this price. First impressions- Fruit… lots of fruit. But mind boggling doesn’t smell like fruit, which is probably a good thing and helps balance it out by not overwhelming the senses with one profile. It’s not a sugar bomb… in fact it’s pretty smooth and neutral to start. Then builds from mid palate to the finish towards acid but stops at a point that’s still very drinkable. Tannins are very light in my opinion. Enjoyable. Not every wine should be a complex puzzle. This is a smooth, simple wine with decent balance. Not a wine to decant longer than 15-20 minutes. Let it open for 5 minutes and enjoy it over the next hour or so.
Scored a bit higher as a daily drinker due to the mild tannins. No sneezing or other typical responses, which made this a nice choice for someone with sensitivity to histamines/heavy tannins.

Light gold in color with soft aromas hinting at floral and citrus with stronger lemon notes. Crisp with a touch of sweet fruit, this wine is subtle on the minerality and hints of salt that Albariño is touted for. Easy to drink, balanced and refreshing.

Bland. Not bad. Just very flat on profile. Maybe it’s past it’s prime or hadn’t been stored well prior to purchase (grocery store).
