2019 Cusumano Nero d'Avola Sicilia
very crunchy, cranberries and cherries, fresh nose and deep prune color in the glass. Taste is mineral, with gravel dust in the mid-palate and back up through the nasal passages. Out of the ordinary and very interesting. Finishes with clay and no alcohol, medium tannins. Long subtle finish like mortar, cement-dust. Warning: next day the vinegar has set in, and i think i had the cork securely back in place. so this wine is close to over-the-hill. i dumped the rest of the bottle.

Pretty garnet with copper edges. Legs are thin and fast. Nose of fresh chalk candy, or Tums, but good, not sweet. Grapefruit on the tongue and that candy mid-palate. Longish finish w/ balanced alcohol. Balanced, nice tannins that stay with that long finish. Finish has hint of tobacco and roasted cashew at the very last.
