Bit more fruit forward than some other Oregon PN, but still nicely balanced with some earthy and mineral notes in the background to keep it interesting. Delicious.

Not as bad as the other WSJ bottles we received, which has been a low bar so far. A fairly straightforward cab thats easy drinking on a weeknight.

As usual the good folks on CT have this one about right. If i had blinded this, I wouldn't have guessed Lange Nebbiolo. Especially on the back of the Rivetto a few weeks back. This was way more light bodied and fruit forward without much else. Not unenjoyable, but just didnt seem... correct?

Surprised by the recent comments noting this is not ready or awkward. I thought this was in a great spot and drinking really nice with a some time open. Went well with some burgers. Dark fruit, tobacco, a bit of cedar and some spice. Will hold the next to see what happens next.

Exactly what i want when I'm looking for a Beaujolais. Fresh, bright and lively with just enough funk that doesn't overwhelm. It's fucking delicious.

Wife really liked it, I enjoyed it but probably less. Pretty nose of peach and honeysuckle. Palate mirrors with a touch of salinity which was a surprise.

Having a great streak with southern Rhône’s at the moment. I paid $17 and would gladly do it again.

New grapes from a lightly trodden geography for me. What a weird and fun drink. Nose is dark fruit, but the palate showed almost none of that. I’ve never used pencil in tasting notes, but I couldn’t ignore it. Lead pencil, cigar box, tobacco, spice with hardly any fruit. Not sure what’d I’d pair this with, but was fine on its own. Maybe a touch too acidic without food.

Sad to see the bottle variation, but I got a beautiful bottle. A bit of funk blew off after 30 minutes or an hour and it opened to a quintessential Oregon PN. If I had to find a flaw, I’d say it’s a touch ripe right now, but that’s really stretching to get to a complaint.

Enjoyable, yet unmemorable. Crisp with decent acidity, but the palate is kind of boring and one note of straightforward minerality. I wouldn’t turn it down if offered, but why buy more when other, similar priced whites offer something additional?

There is nothing to like here. It’s downright offensive. I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.

I had a bottle a few months ago and don’t remember it being this bad. Guess that’s why you take notes, eh? Just felt flabby and on par with a lower shelf grocery store wine. Tropical fruit notes with some lime, but out of balance and unremarkable. One glass was plenty, but finished the bottle.

Pretty good. Paired nicely with turkey burgers. This isn’t going to change your world, but wife and I enjoyed it.

Agree with the last few reviews. This is quite fantastic and great qpr. Nicely balanced with the savory, leather like flavors shining but fruit in the background rounding it out. Definitely would buy again.

I’m ok not getting this one again. Strong, unpleasant green pepper note that I couldn’t get to blow off. I don’t remember that in the first bottle.

I liked that it isn’t as concentrated or in your face as other Malbecs I’ve drank. Still similar notes, but more subdued. Doesn’t seem to excite everyone though and that’s understandable.

The missus drank most of this so don’t have much detail. She really enjoyed it, and I thought the blend was very interesting. The touch of Reisling and muscadet added a hint of sweetness making a more unique offering than the typical French whites we drink. Would buy again at $18 and may try and track down some other Alsatian.

One of the better chateau Kirkland offerings. Nice acidity and minerality with enough fruit to be pleasant and not overwhelm. I didn’t expect this to beat $50+ bottles, and it doesn’t.

Not for me. Agreed with the other note that it’s a bit flabby. Apricot, some citrus zest, but just a bit overwhelming for my tastes.

The 74 below is dragging this down overall, so adding a few points to my 88-89. Paired well with shepherds pie. Savory notes on the PnP fell to the background a bit with time, but still enough to make it interesting and really quite lovely in conjunction with the fruit. One of the better Kermit Lynch adventure club finds.

I think the CT rating of 87 is right on here. I do disagree with our buddy Kermit that this doesn’t need a decent and is ready. Significant, overwhelming tar notes that needed to blow off. Felt like tasting a freshly paved road and about as pleasant as it sounds. More balance with air, but still too much for me and not enough balance to justify a higher score or another purchase.

While not a bad wine, this is likely one of the worst QPRs I’ve had. Maybe my expectations were too high, but this is a very straightforward good, but mediocre rioja. Not much more. Won’t purchase again and stick to bottles for less than half that are just as good.

Feels like a steal at $39 given where OR Pinots are at now. Very juicy acidity that had me coming back for more. Nice red fruits with a touch of spice. Had a PnP with the coravin and got more cola notes than compared to when I opened the bottle and it had more air. Sweet spot for me was about an hour.

Surprised by the jammy notes. Felt this was showing some nice spice with fruit and fairly restrained ”typical” cab flavors. It’s not a Napa punch in the groin. Was best as a PnP and I didn’t like it as much on day 2. It’s a chateau Kirkland $13 special. I wasn’t expecting to hear angels singing.

This is better than the rating and was a very nice surprise given the cost. I’ve had much worse for $13. Didn’t take detailed notes during the movie, but felt the Grenache nicely blends with the Syrah to bring out a well balanced and drinkable wine. Not wildly complex, but that’s perfectly fine here in a tasty low cost option.

I think I paid $12. At this price it’s pretty dang great. Tastes like a fruit forward RRV. No one is mistaking this for burgundy, but damn if it isn’t tasty. One of the better Kirkland in my experience so far.

“Opulence. I has it.” As I drank this over two nights I couldn’t get this line out of my head. This is rich, and concentrated. It began with strong, intense black fruits with a hint of cedar and tobacco. Almost overwhelming in flavor. The second night the fruit faded to the back and cigar box, tobacco, and wood came to the forefront. I think this needs another year to mellow out and so highly agree with the drink window listed here. Otherwise drink with a hefty ribeye or equivalent.

This is supremely drinkable, almost to a fault. I blame the wine for me drinking it too quickly. Mouth watering acidity that’s right where I like it and a juicy red fruit palate. I paid ~$25 which to me seems like a great deal for this. Showed best in day 1.

i think this is starting to fade at this point. Would have liked to taste it a year ago. Pretty straightforward but muted red fruits. Lacking much more than that at this point, but still not terrible for a 10-year old flyer on the island of misfit toys.

I think the other notes get this pretty welll summed up, so the only thing I’ll add that in addition to the minerality, which was pleasant, there’s a not so pleasant buttery note I got on glass two after the bottle had been opened a while. This might not be a problem for most, but I find it very offputting. Still decent, I will just go elsewhere. Paired pretty well with Thai.

Really quite good. I don’t really like using the term “elegant” often, but first sip it’s exactly what came to mind. Has a bit of funk on the nose and doesn’t match up perfectly with the palate. it has a nice silky textured and get immediate red fruits, but not in a cloying or jammy way. There’s enough to make it interesting with some minty or eucalyptus notes. I thought it was quite a bit better one day 1. Have another bottle I will sit on until next year and see if there is any change.

Just not my thing. Jammy, too syrupy and rich for my tastes. On the second night was even worse. We opened another Pinot from RRV right after this and it was much more elegant and refreshing. Even the Kirkland carneros was better for me.

90 seems a bit high for me. Very fruit forward and a bit one note. Not bad, easy drinking, just kind of a fruit bomb. I paid $15, so still not terrible qpr for a bottle I didn't love.

took a total flyer on this as it was an unloved bottle at the local shop just sitting around like sad puppy in the window. For a bottle that probably wasn't kept in the best conditions and wasn't meant to age 9 years, this held up pretty well. The typical dark fruits, but some tertiary notes adding some pleasant depth. Took some time to open up and drinks way better a bit cool.

Found this guy at the local shop that has some overlooked gems collecting dust on the bottom racks. I felt like this is still drinking great, shows some aged via more stewed fruits that were less in the forefront, and earthy, leathery notes, but I liked the 2017 more. Overall, these $20 bottles age nicely and punch above their weight. Impress your snobby friends!

The shop also has the newer vintage which I’ll pick up a few, one to drink ASAP and one to sit on and see how it develops at better conditions than a hole in the wall bottle shop..

Found the oak to cover up the fruit in a very unpleasant way. After a day in the fridge opened a bit more and the palette was better, more integrated. After all the love given to this producer a little disappointed. Maybe needs more time?

This was a nice surprise as I didn’t know anything about the producer, just purchased after a brief rec at the wine store. Brickish red with some earthy notes mixed with dark fruit. Tannins we’re still pretty elevated but not out of balance. Leather and earth with a nice mix of fruit and a long finish. Didn’t I prove much on day two, but did with a bit of air on day one.

Happy with this purchase and would do it again at a very reasonable price at my store.

“The type of red wine that made me not like red wine”. Quote from my wife after taking her first sip. This isn’t good. Reminds me of cheap grocery store wine. Thin, unbalanced, uninteresting and frankly a bit sour on day two. Maybe something to give your college kids when they are back home.
