Drank both the 2015 and 2016. Both are excellent and drinkable now
Full body and delicious, get some if you can. J& M in North Andover found mine case

    6/26/19, 8:25 AM - Hi JVIZ

You ask the better of the 2 vintages. 2015 and 2016. Tough question
We drank them while in Spain with dinners. At the time I didn't remember which vintage I was drinking only that to say they must both have been equally good. Apparently the 2015 is higher scored and harder to find.

Since my purchase of 6 from J&M in North Andover, I have not had one
But will plan to drink one soon and will review. In the meantime, you could ask my friend Corey in California what he thinks is best
He is more the wine geek then I and has a better memory for such things

    Hope this helps

flawed
An interesting experience, I wish I had what others have shared here.
open and smelled, something was wrong. First flavor was like sour champagne all fizzy in our mouths. Tried a few more tastes and decided to wait til the next day. Better, most of the fizziness was gone and the true wine flavors were coming through. Enjoyable, not perfect by any means. I would go for an 85 but not post it. I hope my other bottle also bought at Gordon's is better

good purpur; nose of cherry and fruit; on the palate very dominant acids, shallow even watery; doesn't improve later after decanting, on the palate realy sour, absolutely no tannins, backbone is missing completely; a huge disappointment; bottle looked perfect, bottom neck, very nice cork.

12/27/14, 6:21 AM - What is the point of a 77, how do you drink a 77? Is the point just to throw all of the Lafite under the bus. If the bottle is flawed, just use "Flawed" as others do. A 77 causes a miscalculation of the true score of any wine. CT is one of the most reliable sources of wine ratings now damaged by your 77.

You can correct this by an edit.

Double decanted with aeration and tasted straight away. Blueberries and dark fruit; explosive, massive, concentrated wine with powerful tannin - but the fruit stood up to the tannin. A beautiful wine. This wine has a long life ahead of it, but to my palate it is absolutely ready now. I bought this at a store in Andover, MA, and the owner and I debated over whether a $100 Cab can really be that much better than a $50 Cab - this wine provided the answer!

I read your note on O'shaughnessy and found it helpful. And you bought this in Andover. We live here to, now in North Andover.

Right after decanting: Impressive nose of red and black fruits, licorice and iron. Thick, silky, sexy in the mouth with complex soft tannins. Deliciously long finish of licorice, nutmeg and black cherries. Delicious now (for tannin heads), but should drink well for 15 years or more.

Open a couple of hours and served with whole wheat spaghetti with my buffalo Bolognese sauce: A hint of stewed plums in the nose along with licorice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Silky up front, with tannins rushing into the mid-palate. Long finish of licorice, black fruit and gorgeous tannins.

Open nearly 2 weeks stoppered on the counter. Finally mellowing. Has a warm spiciness that is just delicious. This may merit 95 points in 10-20 years.

    12/25/13, 9:44 AM - Hi Ken

Loved your review. I picked this wine just now for Christmas Dinner and a Herb and horse radish crusted standing rib roast. Cellar tracker and members like you are invaluable. So we just decanted for a 4:30 dinner.
My out of the bottle comments are light brown all round in the glass thin in color you can read through it on white paper. But any pretense of a bad wine ends there. Aroma is light of earth and hint of red fruit and cherries.
You know it's Italian with some class. This is a beautiful wine across all 3 palates with great long finish. Looking forward to reviews as the day goes on. Merry Christmas Ken
