October 12, 2023 - Wow, it took an hour or two to pull together, but this 09 Geezer is gorgeous. Sweet, yes… a touch heady and lifted with eucalyptus and menthol, check… some charred notes (barrel toast?), still there… but overall this is mostly about brightness and a lithe frame with great sappy charm. There is a raspberry coulis that is enchanting. Good grip on a finish. Pretty amazing a 14.3% wine with plenty of fruit avoids any boozy notes and presents as a crystalline form.

August 4, 2023 - Dark red color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 3 hours. This has a wonderful perfume of red and dark berries, plum, raspberries, mushroom, dried wood, black cherry and violets. The palate is sublime, raspberry, dark cherry, wood, mushroom, earth, tangy with great acids, and a mediu, body with nearly lush tannins and silky texture. Loved it, gotta be at or near the apex! 94+pts.

July 24, 2023 - Opened an hour and half before dinner. Red fruit on the nose. The palate was cherry, plums, orange peel and hints of spice leading to a moderately long finish.

June 18, 2023 - Half Century Magnum Lunch (La Trompette) (London): From magnum again and consistent. Open, rich and easy to enjoy. Was shown up a little next to the Verite but given the value difference that’s fine. Loved it and sort of wine can open at any event.

June 17, 2023 - Magnum Mike's Half Century Blow Out (La Trompette): Yee haw. I'm on a bit of a Ridge tip at the moment but even so, this was on song. The nose just draws you in, all the spice you want and something, maybe blueberries? that give it a little lift. On the palate - it's big but the acidity keeps in check, no flab here, a kind of chocolatey note perhaps, this is really in the zone just now.
