April 12, 2012 - This sherry is amazing. Has a great smell immediately open opening - nice dense dark chocolate and rum raisin, pumpkin spice. On the palate I get just about all of that with the exception to pumpkin spice (it seems to translate more to fig and prune), and the sherry dries quite quickly to a nice nutty, almond-like characteristic but still maintains that wonderful spice. I've noticed that the Tx Hill Country seems to be much better at Sherry, Port and white wine than it is with Red wines. I am not afraid to order any dessert wine from a Texas vineyard as these can literally go toe to toe with a sherry that will cost 5x more. The finish on this sherry is spectacular. We just had a shot to see what it was like and we were totally blown away. I was not expecting a 90 recommendation. This bottle was purchased at the opening day of tasting at the Messina Hof Texas Hill Country so the bottle, once gone (and it'll be soon), will still be a memory.
