July 23, 2023 - A lot of anticipation for me, as my love for Freddy Mugnier knows no bounds, and 03 CM Village showed great a couple years ago.
This wine disappointed pretty severely. Muted on the nose, and outclassed by both 07 / 08 Barthod Fuees in aromaticity. Perhaps the extreme cost of the wine is biasing me a little, but there wasn’t too much going on.
Palate was similarly muted and a little flabby. Kind of reminded me of the 14 consumed way too young a couple of years back. Just quiet. Mugnier structure and great length were both there, on the positive side.
Perhaps it was just a bad day for the bottle. 87 / 100. -

July 22, 2023 - Fuees Dinner (DJCV as host) (Brooklyn, NY): A wine of elegance and levity. Characteristically Mugnier in style and with all of the Chambolle-esque one could ask for. The solar vintage seems to have added to the ripeness of the red fruit here, but in no way was the wine hot / heavy / or overbearing. Totally balanced and delicious. A super well executed 2003.

April 21, 2019 - Needed about 30-40 minutes for the nose to open up and the palate to develop. Medium-light ruby with a slight coppery rim. Flat cola, candied cherries, crushed berries, black tea. Light bodied, medium- acidity that mostly sits on the tip of the tongue. Cherries, raspberry, pepper that disappears into a nearly void midpalate with a very gentle undulating tanin. Sadly anything interesting on the palate probably disappeared 4-5 years ago.

August 7, 2012 - Opal Restaurant, Santa Barbara- Burgundy/Arcadian Winery tasting. Tasted blind. Aromas of holiday spice, baked cranberry and licorice. A medley of anise, tea leaf, menthol and cherry on the palate- layered, delicate and pretty. Finely structured with a full finish of spice and medicinal herb.
