October 10, 2020 - The Last Dance Magnum Dinner (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Magnum. So much here with intense concentration, but a big contrast to the Monfortino in the next glass. This comes across as slightly oaky so more modern, but still very intense with a classic Nebbiolo cherry and licorice profile. Will reward more cellar time. Very good 92-93 point potential.

February 1, 2020 - Q1 Wine Club - Aged Barbaresco (The Apt): Second day after pouring it at the La Festa del Barolo dinner the night before. There was still quite a bit of wine left and so it turned into a bonus bottle for this event. I was right that an extra day definitely helped. The oak intensity and more fruit forward nature had subdued. The wine in general felt more subdued overall (no major replacement on those pieces). Seemed very sold but not quite as great as I wanted given how much I've liked this producer in the past.

January 31, 2020 - La Festa del Barolo Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): From a magnum because I think that's the only format they make this bottle in. We brought this wine and to be honest it was not my favorite. I think much too young to be drinking it now. On the heels of a bunch of more classic styles the oak stood out and was not yet integrated into the wine. If you have one of these recommend waiting to open. I'm intrigued to see how it drinks on the second day as there was some left.

March 2, 2019 - VEO Amsterdam, Barolo (Restaurant Domenica Amsterdam): From magnum. Intoxicating perfume with loads of dark fruits, ripe prunes, cherries as well as eucalyptus. Great balance on the palate, lots of fruits, leather notes and good freshness. Drinks well now but could use more time to develop.

August 24, 2018 - From Magnum bottle. As always with Voerzio, this is a wine that causes a little bit of controversy at the table… everybody agrees on the superb quality but of course these are pretty massive, dense, super ripe and concentrated wines. As I am lucky enough to be able to deeply enjoy both super traditional and less traditional, this is one of the stars of the night for me. Super ripe and perfumed notes of menthol, dark super ripe cherries, plum, tobacco, leather, flowers, sweet spices like licorice and cinnamon as well as a touch of smoke. This is full-bodied, dense and powerful, but has impeccable balance with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin that is excellent quality. Great length. An explosive, perfumed, sexy but powerful Barolo. While this is stylistically the opposite of my WOTN (B. Mascarello Barolo 2008 and G. Rinaldi Brunate Le Coste 1997) I love this too.
