August 9, 2015 - A Tour de Force Steve Clifton Tasting (Los Olivos, CA): A stunning bottle, loaded with fragrant red fruits, leather, licorice and a candied aspect. Past bottles did not evidence this typicity. Too bad Stolpman long ago pulled out their Nebbiolo planting.

May 8, 2015 - This is hitting full stride at the moment. With 15 minutes of air, the juice comes alive. Fantastic stuff. Drink now.

January 9, 2015 - This was a lovely rendition of mature Nebbiolo...from the environs of Central Coast California!
Pale purple in color, fading to a light tawny rim.
Notes of tobacco, earth, tart dark cherry fruit, and minerality on the nose.
The palate was elegant with tart, shy cherry fruit, clawing it's way past the grip of soil, tobacco, and spice. This wine has a great backbone of med/med+ acidity, and the tannins are fine grained yet still nicely astringent, and seem to become more apparent with swirling in the glass over an hour. The finish last 30+ secs and echoes the nice flavors and complexity of the palate.
Delicious now, and although will not likely further improve, will last a few more years. If you still have a bottle, drink up and enjoy. An very, very nice surprise.

November 13, 2014 - Cherry flavors and bright red watermelony musty jolly rancher fruit with enormous tannin and moderate acidity. Interesting wine.

April 12, 2014 - The oak was well integrated and there is no hint that this is at an alcohol level of 15%. I was able to pick up red cherry on the palate. A nice tannin structure is present without being overwhelming. There is good acidity that held up well with the Italian dishes that we were having (tomato based sauces). Overall, this an enjoyable wine that does not seem to be over the top.
