Community Tasting Notes 199

July 26, 2020 - First accessed from a Coravin, which resulted in the cork leaking heavily enough to question its integrity, so ended up enjoying the bottle over three days.

Minimal bricking. All requisite components of great Left Bank Bordeaux showed upon opening, albeit in somewhat disjointed fashion. Indeed, after a few hours of air on the first day, the wine turned reticent...even somewhat mean. Having tasted this offering several times prior, knew that it would likely come around. Recorked and revisited it on the following evening.

While it showed better integration, it remained quite reticent, angry to have been awoken from deep slumber. Recorked again, hoping for greatness on the third day. The wine did not let me down.

The third day revealed exquisite layered depth and striking harmony. Such a satisfying experience after a two day struggle. Rounded and balanced, it touched all parts of the palate. Neither acid (medium plus), nor tannin (medium plus), showed any sign of fading. The wine has just entered adolescence, and shows the hallmarks of stellar adulthood, no less than ten years off.

July 23, 2020 - Still very closed and recommend holding. It's in a phase where it seems to be getting tighter. So at least 3 years before opening next one. Pencil lead, forest, deep dark color. Has good structure and potential.

July 14, 2020 - Not as approachable as I had hoped. Full bodied. Opened up more the next day, revealing cherries, anise, tobacco and vanilla. Crude, harsh and finishes quite tannic though. Needs more time.
