May 22, 2022 - Jan's in town (Kevin and Vicki's house): Drank a very small glass over an hour. Brooding, woodsy, bramble, spice and acid. This was a pleasant food wine. In all fairness, serving this right after 2007 Innocent white rose didn't do it any favors.

May 21, 2022 - Jan's Back in Town (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours plus. Deeply earthy and minerally, brooding fruits of black raspberry and black cherry, olive, a little vegetal note. The palate is a mix of dark fruits, iron and minerals, underbrush, woodsy spice, firm and rustic tannins. This is old school, well structured and sturdy. 91+ to 92pts.

December 5, 2020 - Decanted for two hours. Interesting but somewhat rustic nose which showed plums combined with some smoked meat and earth notes. The palate has a big, hearty character for a red burgundy and is actually still somewhat youthful. Flavors of plums, blackberries, earth, mushroom and underbrush come through. Overall the core components of this wine are very much alive but the wine is a bit four squared and lacking in elegance.

November 17, 2019 - This was served blind alongside a 1998 Faiveley Cazetiers. And this was hands down the better wine. Huge amounts of fresh fruits on the nose, specifically blackberries and blackcurrants. The amount of structure on this was astonishing. The group were thinking this could not be pinot noir given its stature, and despite it looking lighter in colour, I also started to believe it could be Northern Rhone syrah it was that big. For 21 years old this really highlights how big and backward old Faiveley used to be. Yet despite its size, this really balanced, and very enjoyable. Served by ST.
