March 23, 2024 - What wine goes with Chinese food? Dinner (Phoenix Palace London): Some discussion at the table as to the level of reduction - I got some but others felt this was now fully resolved. Great nose, linearity, purity - just a little short on the ending for me. I think others at the table found it even better than I did.

March 20, 2024 - Well-resolved. Some smoke on the nose, and a touch of cream. Tart limey fruit on the palate, with a sassafrass note that I've detected in other PYCMs before (and don't particularly care for). Overall, in a nice place, but let down by a weak finish.

October 27, 2023 - Burgundy WIMPS October 2023 (La Trompette): Corked

December 8, 2022 - This was a belter. I imagine it was quite burly in its youth and the oak is still there but now drinking extremely well.
Drank at a restaurant and no notes taken but had a lovely cut and vibe. Very much in line with the 2008 but certainly better 92-93

April 10, 2022 - My last bottle, where I splash decanted for probably not more than 15 minutes before putting it back into the bottle. Had a small taste prior to the decant and there was a bit of pungency. The decant really helped open the rest of the wine up, and by the time it was taken to the restaurant, it was in the most beautiful spot. Lemon, lemon zest, pith, floral notes, and a smooth delightful light aromatic bitter mid palate and an elegant finish. Much better than the last bottle 1.5 years ago where I did not do a decant. The wine wasn't sufficiently chilled at first but luckily with freezer packs in a bag during transit and kept in during the course of dinner really helped. This is a very classy white burgundy / Saint Aubin 1er cru.
