December 30, 2020 - Decanted from magnum. Two nights in a row so we must be on a bit of a Beaujolis kick. With tomorrow being New Year's Eve, we'll undoubtedly open something more grand.

The color in the decanter showed no signs of age but it's a horse of a different color in the glass. A bit of browning on the rim fading into a rusty sunset. The nose is clean but absent of fruit. An image of wet peat moss comes to mind and I mean that in a good way.

In the mouth though, there is an effervescence that borders on Nehi grape soda. Imagine Orangina made of red grapes. This leaves a sharp, acidic tang on the finish. I believe this is a fermentation flaw rather than an intention on the winemaker. It's not undrinkable, merely a distraction. That said, we'll probably open something else. If I want bubbles, I will drink Champagne.

The finish is sweet, an apt conclusion to this bottle.

December 30, 2014 - So pretty and aromatic. Much tannin. Many years left in it.

June 4, 2014 - Nice example. Good light purple color but not much in the way of legs. Smooth and velvety taste and nose of seasonal fruit. Versatile wine and a good reason to sample cru gamey wines

March 11, 2014 - Opened it based on the drinking window provided here. This may have plenty of life. This reminded me why I like both Beaujolais and Kermit Lynch. Much darker in color and with more body than many Beaujolais I have tried. Had the bottle open on the counter for 3-4 hours and then just tasted it after sitting in the fridge with a wine stopper. It's still kicking.

November 23, 2013 - E&R's 4th Annual Beaujolais Weekend; 11/22/2013-11/23/2013 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Tons of brettiness. Really funky at first. As I vigorously swirl this in the glass it does begin to blow off revealing some pretty fruit. Really juicy on the palate, with some nice forest floor too and thick, meaty fruit. Decent minerality. Really impressive structural length on the finish.
