White
2012 Nicolas Chemarin Beaujolais-Villages P'tit Grobis France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages
86 points
Very strong, spritzy, fresh, and metallic minerality on the nose. Soft on the palate with nice honeydew melon. Light metallic notes on the finish, more melon, and nice soft acidity. A nice quaffer.
Red
2013 Jean Foillard Beaujolais Nouveau France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Beaujolais Nouveau
88 points
Quite fruity on the nose; soft and simple. Nice fruit on the palate, with some light grittiness. Really exuberant fruit that's very sweet and enjoyable without seeming over the top. Spice, pepper on the finish. Really nice Nouveau!

2011 Nicolas Chemarin Beaujolais-Villages P'tit Grobis France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages
89 points
Smells like crushed bright cranberry. Overall nice and light; refreshing aromas. Really fantastic bright red candied fruit on the palate. Beautiful, delectable juice, if a bit simple. Slightly spicy finish with mild acid and strong tartness. Really yummy. Not a complex wine, but absolutely fantastic and nearly perfect for its aspirations.
Red
2011 Domaine Rochette Beaujolais-Villages France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages
86 points
Fairly generic aromas. Soft, tart, tannic palate that feels fairly closed. Very lean fruit. Tart and puckering finish with mild acid.
Red
2010 Domaine des Chers Saint-Amour Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Saint-Amour
89 points
Quite a bit darker in color than the previous wines. Nice spiced fruit aromas, showing some heaviness. Heavily fruited on the rich palate, showing fantastic depth of fruit and soft structure and acid. Lots of spice and puckering flavors on the finish.
Red
2011 Domaine Cheysson Chiroubles France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chiroubles
89 points
Some funk on the nose, but overall fairly lean. Lots of tannins on palate entry, and initially coming across as quite closed and lean. Lots of structure, but eventually some nice red fruits come through. Initial funk on the finish, but then goes to brighter red fruit and it lingers for some time on the finish.
Red
2011 Nicolas Chemarin Régnié France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Régnié
91 points
Very lovely aromas. Quite floral and showing nice spicy fruits. Fantastic, delicious palate entry, showing nice depth and elegance. Quite pretty, with lots of depth and grace. Wow, yummy on the finish; I could stick a straw in this one. That said, there's also impressive structural balance here making this a pretty graceful wine. Lovely stuff. 91+ Drank again on day two and it was showing equally as well.
Red
2011 Christophe Pacalet Juliénas France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Juliénas
86 points
A little bretty on the nose. Small ammonia note here. Pretty spicy and funky. More fruit on the palate, but that funk's still there. The brett comes right back on the finish, coupled with a sour, puckering note. Tannins are on the lighter side. I don't think I'd drink this on purpose, but in a pinch it'd do. Interesting comparing this to the bottle last year, that showed no brett.
Red
2012 Pierre-Marie Chermette Moulin-à-Vent Les Trois Roches France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Moulin-à-Vent
89 points
A little gritty on the aromas with lots of spice. Heavy on the palate, with a soft texture. Decent structure and remains mellow and integrated as its held on the tongue. Nice balance of tannic and acid on the finish, with nice fruit and structure lingering. This will improve from here. 89+
Red
2011 Domaine Thillardon Chénas Origine France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chénas
91 points
Totally wild aromas. Smells like mixed leafy greens and red apples. Really yummy and different. Large body, dense, but really caresses the tongue. Really tart finish with fantastic acid. Lingers well and long with some red apple core here. A beautiful wine throughout.

2009 Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Croix des Rameaux France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Brouilly
90 points
Really funky, bretty aromas. Some fruit is able to shine through, though. Spicy and tight palate, showing some pleasing juicy red fruit, but still tons of structure. Chewy finish and really tannic. Thin texture is left on the finish, but it's pleasing.
White
2011 Domaine des Terres Dorées (Jean-Paul Brun) Beaujolais Blanc France, Burgundy, Beaujolais
86 points
100% Chardonnay grown in limestone. Nice and elegant, gritty mineral driven aromas. Pretty round palate texture, offering flavors of ripe melon. Some metallic and awkward notions that make the finish fall off from what I thought this would become.
Red
2013 Division Winemaking Company Oregon Nouveau (Mais Oui!) USA, Oregon
84 points
Smells like Fruity Pebbles cereal in milk with Flintstones vitamins on top. Tart and gritty with more of those artificial vitamins. Puckering finish. Not quite my cup of tea, but FAR better than the last vintage of this wine.
Red
2011 Coudert Fleurie Clos de la Roilette France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
90 points
Really nice fruit on this. It's pretty closed at this stage, but the pedigree is noticeable.
Red
2011 Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côte de Brouilly
89 points
Mild funk on this, but nice soft fruit throughout. A fairly simple effort, though, but enjoyable.
Red
2011 Domaine Jean Descombes (Georges Dubœuf) Morgon France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
90 points
Some funk on the nose, but also offering some pleasing red fruits. Nice big fruit on the palate with pleasing balance of structural components. Pretty elegant, and lingers long on the finish.
Red
2011 Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
90 points
Overall this is quite large in scale, but I quite like it as it still retains balance throughout. Mild spicy finish leaves me with a pretty sensation on the palate.
Red
2010 Charly Thevenet Régnié Grain & Granit France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Régnié
89 points
Earth, funk, and brett on the nose. Nice balance on the palate, with pleasing structure. A bit awkward on the finish, but still a pretty decent package. I much preferred this over the 2009, which I felt got a bit too large.

Flight 2 - Day 2: Saturday, November 23rd 2013 (20 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Domaine de la Voute des Crozes Effervescence France, Burgundy, Beaujolais
89 points
Much better bottle than the one last year. This offers pretty, yummy strawberry aromas. Exuberant palate that's juicy and delicious. Some minerals, light metallic notes too, but overall pretty creamy and pretty. More minerals and zippy acidity on the finish. Very pleasing stuff.
White
2011 Domaine Dupeuble Pere et Fils Beaujolais Blanc France, Burgundy, Beaujolais
86 points
Nice and zippy aromas, which are clean and offer pleasant fruit. Some creamy texture on the palate with cantaloupe melon and a salty, acidic streak. The cantaloupe definitely takes over as you hold this long on the palate. Metallic minerals linger on the finish, which does take away, but not as much so as it did a year ago. I really love the fruit on the palate at this point.

Really zippy candied fruit. Smells like whole cluster. A bit lean texturally on the palate, with some odd fruit. Overall a mild wine. Some grit to the finish and leaves my mouth feeling a little chunky.
Red
2011 Domaine Dupeuble Pere et Fils Beaujolais France, Burgundy, Beaujolais
85 points
Light aromas. Nice mild, soft textured fruit on the creamy palate. Offer some additional notes of earth and leafs. Zippy zingy finish, with some cutting acid, but overall not too interesting.
Red
2010 Domaine Chignard Fleurie Les Moriers France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
90 points
Tons of brettiness. Really funky at first. As I vigorously swirl this in the glass it does begin to blow off revealing some pretty fruit. Really juicy on the palate, with some nice forest floor too and thick, meaty fruit. Decent minerality. Really impressive structural length on the finish.
Red
2010 Guy Breton Morgon France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
91 points
Aromas of earth, some cherries, and really nice depth. Delicious smelling. Again, fantastic juicy palate with pleasing, impressive balance of fruit and structure. Fantastic lingering notes of spice and acid. Really gritty, but this does come together as a complete package.
Red
2010 Guy Breton Régnié France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Régnié

Soft, elegant nose, but overall pretty light. Creamy, soft palate with nice elegance and pleasing fruit. Nice wallop of fruit and acid on the finish.
Red
2011 Domaine de la Voute des Crozes Côte de Brouilly France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côte de Brouilly
88 points
Heavily fruited on the nose with light bits of earth. Some funk on the palate, but pretty lean and mildly red fruited. Lingering tartness on the finish which is pretty gritty and tannic.
Red
2011 Marcel Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

Soft fruit on the nose. Really large palate texture with pleasing softness. Good elegant, balanced structure. Pretty lean and tart though. Really nice eruption of acidity on the finish. Really nice lingering notes.
Red
2011 Jean-Paul Thevenet Morgon Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
91 points
Soft aromas with nice spice and meaty, sulfurous notion. The palate is very exuberant on entry. Almost like cherry soda. Really yummy with mild structure. Awesome eruption of acid on the really pleasing finish. Really nice lingering presence with lots of structure.
Red
2013 Bow and Arrow Gamay Nouveau USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
84 points
Very nice aromas of soft, exuberant red fruits. Some funk on the palate, like model airplane glue. Soft fruit, but definitely covered in glue. Acid and funky plums on the finish. Lots of puckering acid and more glue. There's good aspects here, but overall it's awkward and I doubt I could finish a glass.
Red
2010 Domaine Rochette Brouilly France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Brouilly
91 points
Really really funky aromas, but in a delicious way. Filthy, but so good. Great fruit on the palate, and again a pleasingly sweetly funk permeates everything. Juicy, and uniquely funky on the finish too.
Red
2011 Christophe Pacalet Chiroubles France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chiroubles
87 points
This smells soft and juicy, yet lean. Big fruit on the juicy palate. Pretty vibrant, but without much depth. Some puckering notions. Grippy and gritty, puckering finish without much interest.
Red
2011 Domaine des Chers Juliénas Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Juliénas
89 points
Really vibrant, juicy aromas. This follows through to the palate which is really yummy. Good depth of its character and just a pleasing, quaffable wine without too much depth.
Red
2011 Domaine Thillardon Chénas Les Blémonts France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chénas
88 points
A different bottle of this was open yesterday and this one is showing quite a bit tighter. The aromas are incredibly vibrant and different from the other wines today. Lots of red apples. Amazing fruit on the palate, but an odd leanness to it. Really grippy, gritty, and tight on the finish, with lingering notes of apples. Interesting bottle difference.

Really really juicy aromas. Quite exuberant fruit. Really fantastically juicy on the palate. It's delicious, but also showing considerable depth and completeness. Really nice structure on the finish, with pleasing burning acidity. Lingers really well. Quite good. 90+

2010 Domaine Thillardon Chénas Réserve des Blémonts France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chénas

Really juicy, thick aromas. Very dark in complexion. Instant acid hit on the palate, but a thick dark creamy texture is next. Pretty soft, but the tannins still exert themselves. Big opening of acid on the finish that lingers for a long time. Quite puckering, nice acidity. Feels tighter today than last year. 90+
Red
2011 Nicolas Chemarin Morgon France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

Soft, creamy aromas. Light, soft palate and fruit. Pretty mild and quiet. Good finish, just not really showing much. There's decent structure, but really not much depth or uniqueness.

2009 Julie Balagny Fleurie en Rémont France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie

Aromas feel a bit modern, with some spicy coffee notes. Very odd. Heavy palate with lots of yeasty flavors and some apples. Very yeasty finish with more apples. What an odd wine.
Red
2010 Michel Guignier Moulin-à-Vent La Petite Oseille France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Moulin-à-Vent

Really funky here, with some spice notes on the nose. Soft, quiet palate, with some light yeast and red apple skins. Tart and coating the palate. Really funky finish, too. Nah...
