March 27, 2021 - Purchased at winery on release - I think this is my last bottle but I am going to keep digging around to see if I misplaced any... This bottle was still fantastic. Gorgeous garnet colour, moderate bricking, heavy sediment. Consistent with other reviewers, the stewed strawberries dominate the nose with some leather and spice. On first impact the nose is so bold that it can come across as funky (thanks to adding "parazene" to my vocabulary) especially if you've just been enjoying some other bottle, but you move on and enjoy the fruit. The mouthfeel is sumptuous with plush tannins and medium finish. I enjoyed it more on its own than with food which speaks to its uniqueness. Drink.

August 4, 2019 - This wine kicked off a dinner party full of big reds and grilled tomahawk ribeyes (with all the trimmings including roasted garlic mash, caramelized shallot jam, sautéed shrooms in a port reduction and elective toppings of Cambozola cheese). The nose on this beast was brilliant - stewed blueberries, balsamic, cigarbox. The palate almost matched the aromatics and the finish could have lingered longer but still a delight. It definitely won "Nose of the Night"... drink up!

September 29, 2018 - Decanted for 90+ minutes. ++ sediment strained off. Moderate garnet color. Nose is loaded with strawberry jam and cassis (so characteristic of this wine) which dominate straight out of the bottle. In to the second hour of decanting, many secondary notes emerged: coffee bean, dark chocolate, baking spice, nutmeg and rose petal. Oak is very well integrated. Tannins soften with the extra decanting and become quite velvety. Finish is lengthy. A very special example of top BC Merlot!

December 30, 2017 - From a Magnum (1 of 67) Still in great shape and probably at its peak. This vintage of Maestoso always deliver the wow factor I’m looking for in a wine…I keep smelling my glass to get more of the fabulous complex aromas (stewed strawberries, spices…). You get the same intensity/type of flavours on the palate, with a long finish. Always one of my favorite wines.
