December 23, 2022 - Pale garnet colored, this 13 year old Pinot Noir is starting to show some age. The nose is too. Baked cherry, dried strawberry, caramel, chocolate powder, orange peel, vanilla pod, figs and raisin compote- very layered with primary, secondary and tertiary aromas. The palate is bone dry with medium (+) acidity and low tannins. Flavors of dried and stewed red fruit with caramel and cocoa powder dominate. It's not as rich or complex as the nose was indicating. Light bodied it carries through to a short finish that is comprised of tart cherry, cranberry and some caramel. I was hoping for more from a 1er Cru Burgundy- 88 points with a drink till 2024 window. It would normally run $50+ and therefore gets 3 stars from me. We are pairing it with roast Turkey and all the accompaniments.

October 14, 2022 - This wine surprised me a bit. Being a 2009 and a chambolle, I would have thought it an easier drinker. But it is still a bit tight and not sweet or overly inviting. Unmistakably pinot, light cherry and a tiny hint of forest floor. Emphasis here is not on the fruit. I enjoyed it overall, but would hold for five more years. I think it will improve.

    May 11, 2022 - PnP.
Color is transparent, ruby red with noticeable orange at the edge.
    A bit closed initially.
With swirling aromas of cherry,, dried cherry, garrigue, forest floor.
    Not much "funk".
    Small sample before dinner.
Drinking with and after dinner of baked salmon, brown rice and stir-fried vegetables with a maple-peanut-Sriracha sauce.
Fairly linear tasting on the palate. Some secondary notes including menthol or eucalyptus showing up after about 10 minutes.
Delicious with the food. The wine is banging up against the pepper in the
Continuing to open up even more with a refill after about 20 minutes.

June 29, 2021 - I have been sitting on this Pinot for many years, letting it age gracefully. The time has come as I needed to taste a Burgundy for my wine course. Here are the technicalities:

Appearance- Pale garnet with watery legs.

Nose- Medium intensity, aromas of dried cherry, strawberry, mushroom, forest floor, Rooibos Tea and truffle. Fully developed

Palate- dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (-) tannin, medium alcohol, medium (-) body, medium (+) flavor intensity, long finish. Flavors of cherry, strawberry, Rooibos tea, forest floor.

Quality- very good with potential for more aging.

In layman’s terms, this is a delicious yet young 1er Cru Burgundy. I enjoyed it more as the night went along but could not help but feel a tinge of regret, opening it probably 5 years too soon. I was hoping for many more tertiary notes, a little less tannin. I can only guess at the cost- $75? It gets 92 points from me and is a 5 star effort in the Burgundy minefield of red wine. Paired with grilled Rack of Lamb. I wish I had another bouteille…. Drink from 2025-2030.
