September 3, 2023 - Complex wine with some unique notes not as pronounced in other vintages like caramel and eucalyptus. The eucalyptus note increased after being open for about an hour to the point it was a little overwhelming but it faded to a much more enjoyable level over the course of the evening.

    January 20, 2019 - Showing improvement, and mellowing, from first bottle (Feb 2016 & a 92).
Gave it a two hour decant and it was ready. Color is turning to a darker red/burgundy as it ages. Showing nice complexity and smoothness, though it is still, after all this time, a tad tannic.
This has an embracing warmth, not hot, essence...a toasty chocolate taste.
Drinking beautifully today. The fruit is fading so if you like that, drink now, otherwise this has the stuffing to go many more years.

May 4, 2018 - Deep ruby color. Weighty feel in mouth. Dark fruit and cherries. Powerful nose with a hint of earth on finish. Drinking very well now. Wish I had more. I now see where this wine can go with enough time. Big wine, but not unnecessarily so. Smooth tannins.

February 14, 2016 - Very nice, but I'm thinking my lower score is due to it not being all there just yet. Definitely agree with the "many years to go" sentiment.
It's still fairly tannic and drinking like a wine half its' age! There is bright and youthful tasting fruit with the ever-present, aforementioned, tannic bite.
I've decanted this for 1-4 hours and didn't notice any difference anywhere along that timeline.
I'd say hold your bottle(s) (as I plan to do with my one remaining) for a minimum of 2 years. Only the Wine Gods know how long beyond that it will last...but I'd bet it's a long time!

Update: 2/21/16 - Still one glass remaining after sitting on nitrogen for a week, so thought I'd experiment. Opened last night around 9:30, let sit in bottle, poured into a glass around midday, then consumed around 3:30. After 18 (!) hours of air, it STILL hasn't changed much! Wow. Maybe it's a tad smoother, and it IS nice, but it's amazing how little this changes.
Guess that confirms the hold for a few years belief. Perhaps the fact is that this is a good Cab that may never evolve into great. And I'm still pleased to have one more, but I'll know what I'm in for next time!

November 16, 2014 - This wine just goes from strength to strength..

Oodles of cherries and dusty earth come through on the nose.

On the palette, the wine is still rich and dense, with a piercing focus. The traditional mountain fruits (small dark berries) continue to shine through. Sweet dark concentrated fruits persist and evolve. Tannins are still pronounced, but are beginning to submerge. The mouthfeel is perfect. Velvet is descriptor that comes to mind.

No rush to drink this wine. I estimate 10 - 12 years ahead of this point. An excellent example.
