Community Tasting Notes 5

April 19, 2024 - Bouchard's Clos de Bèze followed a young and wonderfully flattering Nicole Lamarche La Grande Rue 2021. There is more juice and power here, but it stands so nicely in its own right, without being in any way too much or too clumsy after LGR. Fine ripeness, discreetly magnificent, lovely cleansing energy, nerve and acidity. Everything is in balance, the universe stands still for a split second and I am struck by a feeling of gratitude for the wine, for the company, for the relationships and perhaps for life itself.

November 24, 2022 - Decanted for 3 hours. Purple fruit and spice, tobacco with good body and a long finish. Continued to improve with air. Nothing to write home about, but a good drink.

January 14, 2022 - $100+ Blind Tasting (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Aged pretty crimson maroon, larger brick rim; elegant nose, some reduction, young but showing some age, juicy, high toned notes, fresh juicy and delicious, definitely a beautiful drinkability with pretty spice floral and soft fruit notes but the weight of the wine isn't where you'd expect for a wine of this pedigree, weird bottle?, not sure how much longer it'll have just its looks to go off because it sure can't have a deep conversation.

November 24, 2019 - Jean-Pierre Reniard Burgundy Wine Seminar (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant): Tasted in Riedel Burg glass. Aired about 4+ hours in bottle already.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of loamy earth, limestone minerality, red cherries, strawberries, dried rose petals, smokey wood. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), fine medium tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of wild strawberries fraises des bois, red cherries, earth, limestone minerality, smoke, toasty wood spices. Very long finish.
Outstanding quality. Clos-de Beze is da best. It is balanced, it is stately, it has refinement, it has muscle. Keep for even more development.

February 23, 2012 - Cinnamon, strawberry, cherry, 5 spice and cherry pipe tobacco aromas waft from the glass. Supple in texture, with purity of fruit, this elegant, refined, round textured wine ends with fresh red fruits and kirsch.
