December 13, 2021 - Part two of a personal 1999 Hayne weekend festival. The Zinfandel has been reviewed, now for the Petite Syrah, famously labeled a "50-year wine" by Parker. Well, it sure can't be called that after a few years in my cellar. Pitch dark, as though it had emerged from the center of the earth. Bouquet muted, terse, with hints of juniper and black currants --- slight hints. No improvement on day two. Certainly sound, in the same way a block of granite is sound. Drinkable, if you are uninterested in subtlety or complexity.

February 14, 2021 - Deep, deep dark purple color. Blackberry nose. Roast meat, leather, umami. A touch of alcoholic heat remains. This was a beast of a wine, and the years have finally begun to tame it.

September 27, 2020 - Uncellared since purchase at the winery almost two decades ago, and none the worse out of the closet. Proof again that these Turkey P.S. offerings are built to last. A still-young color and nose followed by plenty of black and blue berries, Asian spices and a long, still-tannic finish. Notes of smoke and garrigue throughout. Will probably last another decade, especially if stashed in the cellar. Enjoyed on the patio with H&M and the girls accompanying Omi’s homemade spaghetti. Outstanding.

November 16, 2019 - USA Syrah tasting in Vino and Friends. (By JK in Maastricht): Impressive bouquet with leather and coffee as well as impressions of sweetness. On the palate a full bodied wine with red and dark berries, good concentration, a bit rustic and firm acidity.
