December 15, 2018 - HDH December auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Chicago, IL): Wow, really lovely earth and fruit here. So much earth and fruit here. The red fruit is delicious, and there's a lot of lovely florals. The tannin is still far too young with a heavy graininess. Obviously needs time.

September 4, 2018 - Drinking well right now from my passive cellar. Good typicality, but no zing in this bottle, not as good as one I had last year. But probably bottle variation, as this still had youthful zip and fruit.

February 27, 2018 - 2008 Barolo Retrospective (Blind tasted) (The North End Grill): The nose showed crushed overripe cherry, dried orange peel and sweet, exotic floral tones. On the palate, I found soft textures with light cherry and spice, yet lacking depth and with a zing of zesty acid. The finish was medium-long with a burn of acid and little in the way of fruit.

November 2, 2017 - Decanted four hours. Excellent nose, full and flavorful palate. Dark cherries, tar, herb notes. Clean finish. Great balance. While this is on the early side, it is drinking well right now after a bunch of air and has significant potential to improve.

October 26, 2017 - After enjoying the 2008 “normale” the previous week—it being in a good place—we decided to check in on this cru. That was a mistake: not much here except for a wall of acidity. Over the course of nearly three hours it was obvious that all of the material is there, but it will be at least another few years before everything starts coming together to deliver on this wine’s promise. Hold.
