Community Tasting Notes 9

November 6, 2021 - An interesting experiment. The more recent (ie mid 90s onward) of these wines aren’t my preference. I thought this one would be a fun example to try a ‘modern’ producer before the modern wave kicked off. Interestingly, the same characteristics that I associate with later Vintages still show through; ripe and polished relative to what I am looking for.

August 18, 2019 - Surprisingly youthful. Not a sipper at this point but good with Steves lamb, red sauce, pasta dish.

February 16, 2019 - Light garnet in color, aromatic at opening, sweet red fruit, smoke. Good acid and firm tannins.

May 18, 2013 - drank over four nights, honestly think this wine is way too young, nothing too remarkable to say about the nose, color was dark red - almost purple, palate was fine - crunchy unripe cherries mostly, but i could still taste unresolved oak and tannins were still very prominent... Ok but nothing spectacular at this point, drank over four nights and was best on night four

September 20, 2010 - Burgundy vs. Piedmont: 1971, 1978, 1985 (Boka - Chicago IL): Served blind. Licorice and briar patch on the nose. Dense fruit with good spice on the palate. Very powerful, long life going forward.
